24/7 and clean it often...if you can make yourself

I would throw this in too. Make the skimmer easy to get to in your system and youll be more likely to clean it.

Never a more true statement. This is the main reason I stopped running one on my old tank. Too hard to deal with because of the stand height

No problem here, it's on a shelf in the garage. Hardest part is I need a small step stool to reach it.
