When to start worrying? (anemone)

Well I just got a plain BTA yesterday from my LFS. Acclimated him for three hours and then placed him in the front corner of my tank. Since then, he's slowly worked his way into the rock work. Last night, right before I went to bed (3/4am) he was still puffed up. Now today he's closed up pretty good. I know anem's will wonder about till he finds a place they like, but really hasn't wondered much expect to under the rock. At what point should I be concerned about him? He still has good color to him though.

what type of anemones were housed with yours? Could be suffering from chemical war. But definately looks hungry, so be sure to give him some meaty foods. Are the tenticles sticky? I wouldn't be too concered with him taking a stroll yet. Get him fed properly and he should settle down.

So this is your only anemone in the tank at home?
 
At the store, he was in with another bulb and 2 of those green/yellow ones at the front of pic. Yea, he's the only anem at home.

The bottom pic (in my original post) is at home, but he's definitely not in a prime location, like in the middle of a rock pile. He was closed up pretty tight as well. He's starting to open and I fed some mysis. The tenticles aren't real sticky, some mysis stuck, some bounced off.

Here's some better pics: He's actually much larger then it looks. He wraps around that one ledge rock and comes out the bottom (near the sand). I think it's doing better because there's some bright purple dots on the tips now that weren't there at the store.

He's the green and peach color thing just off to the left of center in the bottom 2 pics. The first pic was just to give an idea where about's he is in the tank.
 
Alright, I guess that was my main concern, him not getting enough light in there. I guess he'll come out when he needs too?? I guess 2-3 days max, before I should consider manually moving him? He's stuck really good to the rock. (A sign of good health?)

Also, just a quickie, is he just the general type of BTA? I've heard of Roses and Green, which he is defintely not, but he looks more brown/peach then some other "general" BTAs. Like the one on saltwaterfish.com for instance:

The one in the picture above is bleached. Hard telling what it's true color should be.

I would leave your BTA alone, he will come out when he is ready. Two to three days may not be long enough, he is still getting used to his new environment. Based on his location, moving him could be a real pain. You could try shooting some mysis shrimp his direction.

How was he acclimated to your tank?
 
I acclimated him for for about 3-4 hours, added a 1/2 cup of water to the bag every ~25mins. The bag usually more then doubles in size.

I believe he was under VHO at the store, though the lightning was at least 36"-42" away from the top of his tank (there's another tank row above). And he's under 130watt PC now (65watt 10k and 65watt 450/420nm actnics).
 
That's what I figured, but I have a LT plate that is doing tremendous, as well an acro and monti frags that are still kicking. Also back at Karen's website, she said:
Bubble tip Anemones are a medium light Anemones.

They do not require Metal Halide lighting, in fact they hide from such bright light until fully adjusted to it which could take weeks for it to acclimize to. They will thrive under PC lighting very well if you have rock work that they can climb up on to reach more light if they feel the need to.

So I pulled the trigger and got one, my clowns didn't/haven't yet host a coral so I got them an anem. I appreciate all your help too redvipe :)
 
Your welcome! I'm not saying your nem won't do well under that lighting. It may be fine. It wouldn't be my first choice. Many have claimed that extra feedings can make up for lack of lighting, probably true. BTA's do not require as much lighting as other anemones. However, I've had better results with MH. I currently have three tanks with BTA's, two have MH and only one has PC. I hope to be adding a 4th tank this year and trying T-5 lighting which from what I understand is sort of in between MH and PC, but I think it will be perfect for BTAs.
 
He's starting to peek out. There appears to be some slight color loss, maybe still adjusting? He's starting to grab the mysis more too. You can kinda see how big he is too, he's all streched around the one rock.

Yes, I can see him much better now. He his bleached, which is the loss of his zooxanthellae, which is a photosynthetic algae that lives inside the BTA.

I suggest feeding meaty foods soaked in selcon, and prestine water conditions. With proper care he will color up, but it will take some time.
 
Well, he's still in the rocks, but he eats much better now. (All the mysis sticks now). I want to get him some enriched sliversides, but being so intertwined with the rocks, I can't get it anywhere near his mouth.

So I give him a couple more days? He has less bubbles and more long tentacles. Though after read karen's why no bubbles, I am not really considered about that. Just at what point should I intervene? I know it's really gonna suck, breaking down that complete left side of the tank.
