How do i tell when it is time to split a phyto culture. Also how many phyto jugs do you have before you start the roifers? Also instead of using a 2 liter bottle for rotifers should i use a 10 gallon tank and if so how much phto do they go through?

That was where I went wrong. A 10 gallon tank was way to much to take care of. I would start with a couple of 2 litre batchs of rots and then once you get the hang of maintaining them you can go bigger.

They phyto should be split when it gets dark green. You should not be able to see through the bottle.

ok how long did it take for yours to get dark green mine has been going for abouit 2 weeks andit has got darker but not that dark

It really depends on how darks it was to start.

Once you get a got culture going and you split it 50% it can darken in 2 days.

If it has been two weeks you should probably split it. Don't forget to add more fertilizer. Without a pic I couldn't really tell you.

Well it can certainly get darker than that. However you could split that if you wanted. What are you using to fertalize it. How dark was it when it started.

BTW good job getting them to lay on the tile. That will certainly help with your success.

ok it was clear and i could see through the bottle so it has defintelty got darker i used micro algae grow do you think i could split it in a couple days because i am trying to get all the food ready for my next batch. Also how many 2 liter bottles should i have of rotifers before i start using them?

2l of Rots.. Um I'd say like 10. Man I go through alot of Rots. Of course it depends on how many fry you have..
