Where can I buy light parts locally?

My 250DE MH fixture burnt a bulb clip. Anyone know where I can find a replacement local. I'd rather not wait to have one shipped.

Thanks.

none that I know of, but you might try calling a couple of electrical equipment supply houses and see if they do. & if you find some local place please post here :)

I couldn't find them local so I ordered them from Aqua Medic. They charged me $40+ S&H & this is the second time their fixture has welded a clip to the bulb.

The little thin clips can't handle the 250w spike when the ballast starts & they heat up like a heater element. If the clips don't maintain good contact with the bulb they arc which welds them together. Once the bulb is welded to the clip it maintains good contact though ;-)

To be on the safe side, it would be a good idea to have a set on hand. At least before you try to change a bulb. I took mine apart Friday night to replace the bulb & half the clip came out with the bulb. You know how Murphy always shows up for the weekend to extend your misery as much as possible.

FWIW Premium Aquatics has them for $19.95 a pair.

That's half of what Aqua medic charges for them but I don't know how well they would fit the fixture & reflector. The guy at Aqua Medic said their new replacement clips have more copper in the conductors for better conductivity & hopefully will solve the problem & to coat the conductors with white lithium grease. It kinda p***** me off that they know that their product is flawed but they rob you on the price of replacemnt parts to keep it going.

Is it the metal clip that makes contact with the bulb that is giving you problems? If so it might help if you put some dielectric grease on the contacts.

I've got a spare. I think I ordered two last time (or got one recently with a misc. lighting order from hellolights expecting something to happen:rolleyes:). I'll have to try the lithium grease. I've got three fixtures with them, so every little bit will help. From the par readings I took, the Aqua Medics pushed a lot more than the PFO's (can't remember exactly, but it was something like 1370 vs 720 just above water and 760 vs 450 a few inches below the surface). I haven't had a problem with the PFO's, so there may be something there...
