where can i buy snowcap clowns?

Dorm_reefer, if the lab is having entire batches with deformed faces and fins odds are their husbandry stinks, not the fishes genes.

one of my lfs got a pair of snowflake clowns but they sold them and they were just waiting for someone to pick them up. they were almost all white! i was going to buy them for 1400 dollars. is that a good price? they said they can probably get more.

+1
its husbandry not genetics.

fishkid, if you don't mind close to all white True percs, instead of false percs, go to ***** and email them. I got some picassos from them awhile back, but heard that they have some babies that are mostly white, and they are a lot less than 700 bucks each! They will send you pictures of BOTH sides of the fish, so you don't have to worry about buying unusual fish without seeing them in person. The thing is though, these are not snowflake clowns that are ocellaris, they are true percs.

IMPO Bones should not call his white clowns "snowflakes" at all, they are true percs using "snowflake like or patterned" can confuse someone. I like Cotton Candy or even if he wants to spin off snowflakes call them "blanket of snow" clowns lol.

Anyway, if your interested in true percs call bones, from what I hear he has not updated his site because its been to cold to ship. Once weather warms up there should be some new cuties on his site.

Live Aquarias' Divers Den just sold two pair the other day for $600 a pair so I'm thinking $1400 is a little steep.

Do you go to Greenwich aquarium for your LFS?

sounds like the pair your LFS had was pretty special but 1600 is pretty steep.

yeah thats where i go. they were 1400 though. i am waiting for them to get another pair. i am going to buy there dwarf red angler next week for my 10 gallon. they can get pretty much anything i want.

ok i have another question......what is the rarest clownfish?
These were bred at the Sattahip Chonburi percula farm in Thailand and were sold for 1,000,000 Thai Baht ($31,800). I suggest you get a pair. PM me for a good deal;)

Have received your PM. Tried to reply but your inbox is full.
"Are they worth it" - No, unless you are an incredibly wealthy, experienced rare fish collector. IMO, seeing as you are new to reefs, you will be much better off getting a pair of onyx percs or the likes. Much cheaper and equally, if not more, beautiful.
If you decide you enjoy this hobby and you master the problems it can, and will, present then you should consider some rarer or more difficult to keep species.
All clownfish will provide beauty and 'entertainment' in your reef. They don't need to be rare or expensive - but that is something you can work towards.
It's fantastic that you are 14 and so keen on the hobby. You will have many years of enjoyment (and expenditure!) from it.
Post some pics of your reef soon. Good luck.
