Where can I get a Sea Hare in the chicago land area?

eat they hair algea.. Its for a friend of mine whos having some hair algea issues.. He asked me if I saw any in the stores around here but I havent really been to any of them in a while so I figured i'd post and find out.

I've seen them at Coral Reef in Norridge & Ocean's Floor in Chgo. Be sure all his intakes are covered or bye-bye bunny.

lemme know if you get one, it does the job and your ready to pass it along. I saw one at oceans floor(cool looking little bugger) over the weekend but avoided it hoping there was still one being passed around on this site. I hear they die shortly after running out of hair algea to eat.

mine never had any hair algea to eat to begin with, and is doing fine. It eats red slime, diatoms and everything else that can be found in my tank at this point.

Old Orchard has a nice blue spot (Bursatella leachii)- they'll do better for hair algae than some of the more common ones.

hmmm... is there any truth to urchins eating hair algae? One of the guys at Ocean's floor talked me outta the sea hair and into an urchin saying it wouldnt die after all the hair was gone and would do just as good of a job.

IME, urchins will eat hair algae...

and turf algae, and coralline algae...

as well as knock over frags + other items of comparable size....

I actually just got one in from LiveAquaria today. I have a couple of systems that need treatment and I think I will be up for trading him around afterwards. Hit me up in like two or three weeks.

I have a tuxedo urchin in my tank, no hair algae anywhere. He does carry around a few too many zoanthid frags. Anyone want to trade me something for him?
