Where can i purchase nori?

If you live in Sacramento, you can get some at:

Wing Wa Seafood Supermarket
6021 Stockton Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95824

for a couple dollars

Bel Air Supermarket by my house has sheets of green for something like $3 for a package that's 3X larger than the LFS.
Jeni found Red Nori (which my tangs love way more than green) at either Elliott's Natural Foods, or Whole foods, I forget which.

Whole Foods, over by the fish section. The green bag, not toasted. They are really good place to pick up fresh snacks for fish as well.
I got a big bale of red seaweed at an asian market for about $6 but it breaks up fast in the tank. The tang loves it.

If you want to support the new store you should buy livestock as the mark-up for livestock is much higher than it is for drygoods (or atleast thats what Maria and Tony told me) :). They said when they sold a $250 tank they only made a profit of about $20. Also my employee discount was higher for livestock than it was for drygoods.

Both Ralies and Bel Air have had it when I have needed it. In the Oriental food sections - it was a little hard to find, but they had a lot of it and at just $3 for more then the large expensive packages at the LFS - and my tangs love it just as much if not more.

How do I defrost my formula frozen foods without using the microwave which takes takes the nutrient value out of it?

I thaw out my frozen mysis cubes in a small cup of (79 degree) tank water. Cyclop-eeze thaws the instant I touch it, so that's never a problem.

Also, I've always fed and never had a problem using grocery store roasted (unseasoned) Japanese sushi nori. But then I've never sent any out to a lab to have a nutritional analysis performed on it either.

Formula Frozen has that binding gel and it won't thaw unless I microwave it or sit there with my hand in the tank rubbing it with my thumb for 20 minutes.

Try a different brand of frozen or get one of those grid clips that holds it until it thaws.. What's in it, brine, mysis, spirulina, etc?

FORMULA 1: shrimp, krill, gel binder, spinach, clams, krill

hydrolysate, sardine meal, plankton, salmon egg oil, squid, kelp,

lecithin, paprika, canthaxanthin, cod liver oil, astaxanthin,

vitamins, amino acids, and trace elements.

FORMULA 2: plankton, gel binder, spinach, krill, clams, krill

hydrolysate, lettuce, peas, sardine meal, salmon egg oil, squid,

kelp, lecithin, spiruluna, cod liver oil, paprika, vitamins, amino

acids, and trace elements

I used to thaw the Formula one in warm (tank) water, it just takes a while. I can buy scraps of fresh fish, shrimp and mollusks at whole food cheaper.

i used that once i use to take a knife and cut little pieces for my fish very time consuming i liked the frozen san francisco bay brand better they break up within a minute once places in a cup of tank water.

Hate to say this: My only problem with purchasing nori from the Asian food store is that I have a habit of eating more of it than my fish. :eek1:
