Where do petco fish come from?

I would say many thru the same wholesalers as other LFS. I seriousy doubt they ahve their own collectors.

I heard from someone near me the one of our petco's was starting to get stuff from ORA...

Depends on the Petco, there are hub stores trying to bump up their SW section.

Yes that do get some things from ORA. Origionally I believe that they were not allowed by ORA to state that fact but since have been given permission to use the ORA name. When I bought my Devil's hand leather (locolobythim sp?) it was not listed as an ORA piece. Later I was on ORA's site and notice that the mount that mine had was an ORA specific mount. More time later I started to see that the very same Petco now listed these same leathers (loco lobo leather) as ORA pieces. They have also been bringing in red planets and purp plasmas and more all on ORA plugs.

Yup, I picked up nice ORA blue hawkins colony that was accidentaly shipped in with their fish order. The manager didn't know what it was he asked if $30 sounded fair, I said it's a little high but I'll take it:lmao:

I've heard they have been ordering more and more from ORA. But I also heard they use the distributors network like most other fish stores.

I worked for Petco in Arizona and we got marine fish from ORA and Tropical something lol.

My local Petco recieves many of its fish and corals from ORA. One of the employees even let me look at the list of ORA corals/fish that he could order. He could get anything ORA in that I wanted. Like another poster said earlier, they just started listing the ORA name on some of their coral recently though. I do also know that they use some other suppliers too.

The places, such as ORA, they get the their livestock from is good quality, but it is the conditions that they are kept in is bad. There was a Petco that got in 3 ORA derasa clams and were held under 400watt metal halides at ORA, yet PC bulbs at Petco. One person in my local reef club saved one, but the other 2 perished in the store.

I have had good luck with Petco fish. 2 perc clowns and a blue tang.

I've only seen a salt water section in petco once, and that was three years or more ago.

Talk about a sad sight. They had about 25 3"+ tomato clowns in about 15 gallons. I wanted to buy some just to get them out of that hell hole.

I worked at Petco for a while in the grooming salon and they got alot of thier stuff from Sun Pet, or at least down here in AL. I hear when you order from online store though they come straight from the wholesaler rather then Petco but never order so cant confirm that.

my petco get theirs from a place called Coral Beauty I saw in the bag packaging. The guy told me they get fish from two suppliers. Not sure who the other is. This is in Baton Rouge.
