Where do you all keep your tubs blues?

I got a frag of tubs blues last week from a friend. Sadly Most of the polyps are a loss, but I still have 3-4 :) . So, anyway, I have mine in the upper third of my tank (I am using t5 lighting). I am courious where everyone else keeps theirs and the light they are using.

Thanks
Paul

I have some at the bottom under 250's, some at the top under 400's. I am not sure if mine are tubs, but they are blue. I no longer have t-5's so i can't help you there.

Not sure, They are just no longer on the rock. Not sur if they were eaten, came unglued, or what. Oh well, i'll just have to try again. This time though, they are going to be lower in the tank.

FWIW - and for the next person who reads this: the nicest colony of tubs blues that i've seen (and i mean COLONY) is at a shop in the bay area: Atlantis aquarium

they keep them at the very bottom of their (predominantly sps) tank - and they are gorgeous!!!

I have heard Blues come from deeper waters...

Wow.. Old thread alive again. For what it's worth, I have some alien eyes (blue with a yellow center) that really lost color at the bottom of the tank. I moved them up and presto, they are blue again!

As far as the tubs blues go, sadly mine are mia. The person who said "the more you pay for a coral, the more likely it will die" may just have some wisdom with that statement.

I had mine anywhere in the tank under PC's, but moved them to a tank with 150W HQI and they couldnt take it right away. I had to keep them at the bottom in partial shade, but after about 4 weeks, they were upper 1/3 and right under the light. It had been about 4 months since I moved them now and I cant tell you how much better they look - like whole new zoos. I will try to post some before and after pics if I can figure out how.

FWIW, tubs blues will be a dark blue in lower light and a sky blue in higher light.

That is extremely true here is a pic of the frag I got from Tubs himself a couple of years ago: http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=47566&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500

And here's a colony from the same frag: http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=161478

Frags from this colony has looked different from people using 157, 250 and 400W halides and range from 10K to 400K

Do Tub's blues grow faster under high light or nearer to the bottom? I've had a piece from Atlantis in the middle of the tank under halides for a while and I'm not really satisfied with the growth, so I made two frags and placed one at the top and one at the bottom.

Let us know the results, the higher up ones should have more of a Sky Blue hue and the lower ones more Royal, let us know.

If you didn't buy them from Tubs or from somebody that bought them from somebody that new somebody that bought from Tubs they are not Tubs! The Ocean is a very small place and only one of a kind corals grow there. :D

ViPeR_930: definetly let us know the results like ReefGeekster said. a pic of both about 1 month after the different placements would be great! :D
