Where do you draw the line???

The most i have paid so far is around$ 6 per polyp..for a select few the highest i would go is around$ 25..i have been able to get good deals so far and acquired others through trades

doesn't include shipping. but i would like to know how much would you have to spend to justify the $30-50 shipping cost? for example, I would not pay more than $10 per polyp and i wouldn't buy just one polyp, it would have to be a few polyps to justify the cost of shipping

Hard to say, I usually wait for the deals to present themselves over spending stupid amounts of cash on frags.

$20 for a frag I guess that had 5 - 10 polyps.

I once bought some desert foxes years ago and with shipping I probably paid $40 for the frag.

But this is only a hobby afterall and nothing I have is needed. Plus there are so many beautiful color morphs out there what is wrong with buying 2009's hot model at 2003 prices?

ive already paid 50pp on my red hornets but to me as my fav coral in my tank it was worth it and i have like 6 of them now when i only had 2 but i prob wouldn't do that again i think 25 pp is most ill do now. i just wanted the RH really bed they look amazing!

I have paid 49.99 for a single polyp before. To me, it's a matter of what looks good to me and what I don't allready have. I have also paid 30 for 100+ colonys. I really think it is a "what the market will bear" situation as is most items we purchase. If one can sell Eagle eyes for 50 a polyp, more power to them. Me, I give away more money in corals than I have spent.

Depends on how much I have in my pocket and how sweet it looks lol. Ok not really but I think I would go $25 to $35 a polyp.

In my mind I want to say $25pp because there are some sweet looking zoas, but in reality probably more like $5. Last weekend I was at the lfs and they had RPE frags of 20+ polyps for $50. I liked them, but I was thinking more like $35 and they would have been mine.

I'll pm you my address for the next time you give away corals. lol

I don't draw a line lol. If I want a certain zoa and the market price is $100 then I'll pay it. I just pray that it grows fast so I can resell or trade some of it's babies while the market is still high.
It's always better to get nice polyps in frag packs though cuz generally people will do that for a lot cheaper. There's a lot of great people around that will really hook you up if you buy a pack from them.

As a person that propagates coral's I lean towards a $100 cut off point per polyp or I'll just wait it out for the price to go down it always does

I don't mind because I know I can sell it @ half price with in months and in the long run I can sell them for $6 each easily per polyp

i think thats the issue with this hobby people buy a frag and say they pay 50 a polyp they then want to sell each and every polyp for that price. its not like its costing you that much to grow them. but my cut off point would have to be 20 a polyp if i really really liked them
