Where do you get your softies?!?

Hello Everyone!

As you can see, I want to know where everyone gets their softies?
Internet? Frag swap meets? Local reef keeping enthusiasts?
I'm in the proses of setting up my tank, so I need the suggestions!

Do you have any LFS in your area? That's where I got mine. It's nice to be able to see it before buying it if possible. If there are any frag swaps that you know of that'd work also. Can get things for a descent price.

I have a few LFS in the area with a good reputation. Iv stopped by a few but they don't have a wide variety of softies available. I will be attending my first frag swap in September so I hope to find some there. Im just worried ill overpay seeing that I am new to saltwater and corals.

I get all my coral and fish from the same lfs. at least ten within a few miles, but only one who I trust. gives an honest opinion and not just to sell something. a little dumpy place and not too many of the high cost coral, but I don't want them anyway. good selection of fish but will order any fish I want. best prices around. how far are you from Bensenville?

I'm 35ish minutes away. What's the name of the place? If you'd rather PM me the details you can. Thank you for the help and input!

I find that it is commonly the opposite. I spend way more money on frags at the LFS vs swaps.

In addition, the cheaper corals are always at a local reefing group... search for a local forum.

If you can try making it the Lansing,MI swap some time next year... that is always a good one to go to!

I've always gone to my LFS or liveaquaria.com, but then again I've yet to go to any frag swaps. I have how ever met a few reef keepers through craigslist ads and have swapped some frags with them.

While on the somewhat topic of frag swaps, anyone know of one in MN ;) haven't looked to much yet but i'm sure there are forums about them somewhere

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm trying to fight my urges to buy corals at LFS until I go to my first swap this September. I'll have to try and make the MI frag swap Rx79394!
