Where do you guys buy salt?

im sorry but whats the problem with going to your local LFS to buy your salt? last I checked amazon doesnt sell fish or corals, and it blows my mind that no one goes at least once a month to there local LFS why cant you just buy your salt then?

BTW ALL the prices you all have posted I can easily go to FAOIS and pickup at the same price or maybe better. AND I get to bullshit and buy fish and corals when im there....

God that does make sense to me LOL

Support your LFS or eventually they will not be there to support you.

I f*cking love this! There has been numerous accounts where I've seen people mention FAOIS and other LFS around the area that have helped out. I'd imagine that goes for everywhere, to a point of course. Which is is why I'll always pay a little more to get something from an LFS, support them so they can help you.

Pssshhh once a month? Try once a day! Ill tell the wife I'm running up the street to get some milk and then haul butt to oldsmar (I live in st. Pete) just to see what they have in Stock! Then ill come home and complain about those old ladies and their coupons took forever.

Seriously though wouldnt the shipping cost you as much as the salt? (Excluding Amazon prime)

I still haven't bought any livestock online. Not once, why risk it?

Agreed. Granted Im not buying high end salt or anything so at $32 a box I'll make the drive to Drysdale, not to mention the weird odds and ends he usually gets in make it hard not to empty the wallet on other stuff (damn budgets) my second option is faois with the second best pricing. It's worth the drive, just hard to make sometimes.

Agreed, and if you find a good, trustworthy, lfs you know they won't gouge you on price. You can spend more time looking at your tank instead of shopping.

And really, it's usually cheaper since we have a few stores that stock at great prices locally. I only order online if I don't have time to run to either store now.

I usually buy from Foster and Smith, they have great deals sometimes, depends on what type/rand of salt you are looking for.

You know it would really suck if everyone bought everything for the same price online instead of their local small business and that small business disappeared.

I don't get it. Maybe I'm old school. Supporting my community, networking, etc. is ALWAYS a good decision that has returned business and fortune to me.

One of my clients owns Dog Lovers off 19 and we've had discussions about how since the Petco opened up down the street, business fell off for a while. But what was truly amazing was when they compared their prices on dog food, etc. they were cheaper!!!

So to those people who switched, I say not only are you an idiot for not supporting the people in your community, but you're even dumber for paying more.

My intentions are not to insult anyone here, but my lord even if the bag of salt is $5 more don't you think it's advantageous for you to buy it from your LFS. How many times have you gone in and asked questions? Does that not have any value? If there were no quality LFS's who are you going to call when you need help? Dr. Foster? His buddy Smith? The Petco employee who learned yesterday that he's supposed to top off with freshwater?

Go support your local businesses!

And to answer the original question. RSCP commercial bag at FAOIS. It's like $50 something dollars and I pick Johns brain for 20 minutes and then pick Chris' brain for another 20. And then maybe I'll go have a slice of pie next door at the pizza joint.

Oh man, if you haven't yet you have to try the Famous Pizza philly cheese-steak pizza. Amazing.

I'll try it next time I'm over there. Although I'm always skeptical of anything Philly cheese steak as Delcos in Dunedin has set the bar so high. Hell, Delcos is better than Pats or Gino's in Philly.

I currently buy Red Sea Blue Bucket/Bag from FAOIS. Folks, support your LFS or they will be gone. Remember, Jobs, Community Support, etc. Look at what some of the local stores do for the community as well as give free "good advise". I must admit, I shop at all the good local SW shops, but there are a few that service the SW community better than others. BUT, I do support the local shops best I can. I rarely order online (Zeovit mostly because not available local), but I do use the local reefers for livestock as well. This is a community, and we should try and network best we can.

Got to admit, the Pizza shop gives FAOIS an unfair advantage in my case as I am a Pizza whor@@ :).

Started this post on a simple question on where to get the best deal around town lol. Learned some good stuff on this though!
