Hobby is expanding at a rapid rate, faster than I’ve seen it in 40 years. This place is dead, guess this hobby is dieing out
Are you saying that heavy weights are logging back into this site?Hobby is expanding at a rapid rate, faster than I’ve seen it in 40 years.
Some move on, some come back, things have a way of coming full circle.
Today, not so much, but I do see some “heavyweights” logging in more these days.
Sometimes a million peoples answers are just confusing, your looking for a few “seasoned” answers, not 52 yes and 195 nos
Yes. That’s what I’m sayingAre you saying that heavy weights are logging back into this site?
There are some members on this site I’ve been reading for years. Very knowledgeable and practical. Helped me so much over the years, so “heavyweights” is my slang for experts. Are you saying that heavy weights are logging back into this site?
It seems that r2r is starting to dwindle too.Seems like many have moved over to reef2reef
Mostly on Facebook I believe. It seems that r2r is starting to dwindle too.
All the heavyweights that once made that site worth frequenting are mostly gone. Now a days, most of the traffic there is fluff, ie. what's your favorite... who uses xyz? Etc etc.
When I stumbled on this thread, I was hoping to get a glimpse of where the heavyweights ended up...
I think the "next generation" have already moved on to IG and TikTok. Many old salts (heavyweights) I still know don't want to engage online anymore. Everyone else is on R2R, or some discord server, or reddit, etc. Our hobby is very fractured, at least the online part.Mostly on Facebook I believe.
Nice to see JBSome of us are still around.
Disappeared from online for a while. I'm back, just put water in a new tank today.Nice to see JB

I'm glad you're enjoying lifeBeing retired we can launch our boats without a reservation and almost never another boat at the same ramp.
Where in Idaho? I have distant relatives there and visited Coeur d’Alene many years (80’s) ago. It was beautiful.I never found a better source of info online than RC. I think FB does a terrible job serving the hobbyist. Its aim is to make money at the expense of knowledge. Making money is ok but moderators here allowed both to coexist.
I miss the hobby but also enjoy my kayak, fishing boat, pontoon boat and travel trailer. We left SoCal in 2020 for Idaho. We have rivers, lakes and reservoirs everywhere here. Being retired we can launch our boats without a reservation and almost never another boat at the same ramp.
When the state only has 2 million total it’s a slower life.
