Where is TJ's (debaser) tank?

I finally got the new lights hung from the ceiling. What a pain in the butt that was.

don't call the tang police, I'm only babysitting it for a month or so.

Looks like the side to side coverage of that little 150 single ain't too bad. But...... what is that I see.... are you powerhead sitting also? WTH!

BTW, that rusty looks crazy up in there.

That rusty is almost 10". All of my stuff from Liveaquaria.com was a lot bigger than what they listed as "approx" sizes on their website.

I temporarily put a MJ400 to blow across my new leather toadstool because the Blenny kept sittin on it. I'm pretty sure it has an infection so I am going to frag it up if Liveaquaria.com doesn't replace it

They wont replace it without you paying shipping again.
They will give you credit though or credit back the card.

Dont do anything with it yet until you talk to them.

On the gorgonian cut off the dead stick part with a scissors close to the flesh. Otherwise it might keep receding there. They do that alot with shipping but it should come back nice.
Just a note that gorgs shouldnt be exposed to air at all if you didnt know although mine sometimes are when I do a water change. It's best not to.

The Gorgonian no longer has that dead stick part. I have no idea what happened but looks 100% healthy now.

I really need a good coral book, do you recommend anything?

I got a copy of Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman, I think it is a pretty comprehensive guide. Lots of pretty pictures too!

I had the Appleton Library get Julian Sprungs vol.1 one time but something happened to it and they did'nt have it anymore.

I havent bought a book in a long time so dunno.
This hobby changes so much all the time you want something not outdated.

For propagating corals garf.org has alot of info.

Does it look silly or something? I think it looks great. It was 2" taller than liveaquaria stated it would be. I'll eventually look into fragging it.

Don't hack up a new coral you just got. It needs time to acclimate to your tank.

T.J. are you adding any type of plankton to your tank?
I use Dt's, Rod's Food (it has a lot of coral foods in it) and Cyclop-eeze in my tanks a few times a week rotating them around.
I like the idea of Rod's Food, it feeds a lot of different organisms you would have in a reef tank.

On another note: If anyone is really interested in Gorgonians I can get then for $12 a piece. Yellow Pterogorgia citrina (it really looks brown to me), orange Muricea elongata or purple Muriceopsis flavida are available depending on stock.
With the mild weather we are supposed to be having coming up I may just put in another order with them but you would have to pick them up from my place which is kind of a drive (just ask T.J. or Bri).

Tank update. Added a red lobo and torch coral from Coral Boy Farms.

I can't for the life of me figure out why my green star polyps wont open. I have a rock covered in them, and they are the only coral that isn't doing well.

Ron I would love a purple gorgonian...just not sure how you could get it to me

Yes Briguy I have propagated many gorgonians before. Ask Ron he has some of mine lol.

I just did'nt think it was a good idea after they have been shipped to whack them off right away. I always try to let things get used to the tank conditions first.
Gorgs are touchy when it comes to shipping and if they get cold or are exposed to air they can die easily.
On another note if they do lose the tips from shipping the dead part should be cut off.

T.J. Try wiping off the GSP with your finger and see if they open.
Sometimes they get a film on them and that might help.

Ive had my gorgs for several years and don't feed them but the ones I have are all photosynthetic. I have a purple frilly, purple plume, and a candellibrium (which is what Ron has from me).
I only feed my fish and never feed the corals lol.
I do like Rods food for my 55 cuz it does feed the corals some with the fine particles and that tank has alot of corals.
I think in my 150 though theres alot more waste from it from the small particles cuz I only have a few corals in there.
I usually mix some of Rods and some flake and brine and feed once a day.
Before I got Rods food though I just mainly fed flakes.
