Where is your profilux??

I am currently keeping my profilux off to the side of my aquarium and I am not really all that happy with it. Do any of you keep it under your stand or on top of the canopy??

Far away from salt as possible! As with all delicate electronics

I would recommend a postion to the side of the tank

Here are some pictures of where I will have my profilux.

And the dosing pump is located in my laundry room about 10 ft away (but 25 ft of travel)

Here is the overall laundry room picture. I have a zoomed in image, but this gives you an overall perspective. The dosing pumps will sit atop my 10g water change tank, next to my 3 gallon 2 part containers. The ro/di unit is on the wall next to it.

As you can see, it's still a bit messy. I'll have that cleaned up once my last dosing pump comes in.

Here is a zoomed shot. The colors correspond to what I'm dosing.

Green - ALK
Red - Calcium
Blue - New water
Black - Old water
White - RO/DI for top-off

Check valves were installed on the input side of the pump to prevent siphoning and backflow.

Here is where the tubing comes out on the other end. You can see all my rainbow tubing here, along with a cat5 line and a phone line. The cat5 line will connect to the back of the controller and then to my router so that I can access the info on the web. The phone line will run from the back of the controller to the dosing pump to control it. My goal is to change out about 8-9 g per week at night, plus daily additions of alk/ca. (Note: Old picture, I switched out the regular phone line for a 6 cable line to run to the dosing pump).

Great pictures!

Mine is on the floor by my desk always in bits as i am constantly inserting different modules to test peoples technical set up questions.

Wont post any picks it would frighten you then mess of this office!

Does anyone want a thread started where they can put their profilux set ups on this forum for others to see how they are set up and working?

Let me know.

That would be great Michael. I was going to suggest that. When I had an Aquacontroller JR., I found most of the command logic from the Neptune forum.

Chris,

this looks really great! Actually much better than my setup at home...I have just no time for my hobby at all.

I have one slight concern: You placed ProfiLux above your sump? The salty aerosols are very aggressive! Maybe the electronic inside ProfiLux will corrode!

Thanks Matthias. I will take some updated pictures of my laundry room where the dosing pump is, now that all the wires are cleaned up.

I did have that concern with the controller. Do you think there is a way to wrap the controller in something to prevent saltwater corrosion?

Do you see any problems with how the powerbars are mounted? I was thinking about placing an acrylic shield over them just in case of any salt spray.

I doubt that wrapping would help. What about the connectors?
The powerbars may also get damaged by salty water steam.
The problem is not only the salt spray - the aerosols are the are the problem!
I would separate electronic devices and sump in any case.
