Can anyone tell me what are some decent websites that sell digital cameras at a reasonable price. I have had a cheapo digital camera that's about 5 years old. Would definitely like to upgrade and learn about photography. What cameras could a newbie work in the $400-600 range? I would like camera features that I could grow into later down the road but still easy enough to take nice photographs that are idiot proof....well not idiot proof, but not overly complicated.

I don't think you could go wrong with B&H. They might not be the cheapest but they are more then reasonable and have some of the best C.S. out there.

In that range, I'd look on eBay for a Canon G5 or G6. Granted, I have a Canon bias, but both are good upper end point and shoot cameras that have enough flexibility to still allow plenty of creative input.

I have a G5 (and a Canon upgrade from that) and agree with Doug, though I may be bias as well. It's a great camera to start off with in that price range. They also have two good lens options if you are interested in macro photography.

i prefer cannon for a point and shoot, but my DSLR is a nikon...

my cannon powershot s45 took some relly good pics(it is a discontinued model thou)
