Where to buy a 180 or 240

Although I wish I was setting up my own instead of helping a neighbor does anyone have any suggestions about where to buy a 180 or 200+ 6ft tank? Is GlassCages worth looking at because I see they are delivering to the Des Monies area mid-March? Should we go glass or acrylic? I think he prefers glass because of how easy acrylic can scratch.

I selected this size because of the 6'X2' footprint but can't find a reasonably prize tank and nobody local seems to have one for sale. The LFS has a 200+ but they want a $1000+ for it and I don't remember if that included the stand. Is that what we are going to have to pay to get one that size? I don't think we need a stand just because he doesn't think we can find the style he wants without custom building it.

Custom building a stand is another topic. Does anyone want to make a few bucks and help us out with building a custom stand for a tank this size?

im not completely sure about this but, a local fish store in moline gives good deals on allglass reef ready tanks. ive never seen anyone beat their prices, pet depot.

your probably looking at 950-1100 dollars on a reef ready 220 , just the tank.

dont go to glass cages have tried to order through themtheir customer service blows and their quality of work sucks cheap price but you get what you pay for.... go to Ia petfoods on 22nd behind hooters and talk to Tim he will give you the best deal on tanks compared to all the other fish stores... I have bought several from them and never did I think that I paid to much now when I was young and dumb I bought a tank from petsmart well for the price I could have gotten a tank twice the size....

We have had a few members have good luck with glass cages. Tanks are typically a little rough looking, but are over built and for a fair price. You can even add starfire glass or have it drilled. I may look to them for my next tank.

seanndenise1 what store in moline are u talking about? I am always lookin for new stores to visit.

I believe he was referring to 'Pet Depot' on John Deere Road, in the strip mall in Wal-Mart's parking lot.

yeah, walmarts parking lot.

not putting the store down or anything, but if your not already driving past it dont go out of your way to get there.

they do at times have some decent fish at a great price but are not what you are wanting in a reef store.

they are 99 percent freshwater.

Moline has Pet Depot and Teske's they are both places in Moline to get fish at a fairly decent price, but many times they are low on stock and do not stock much if any coral. For coral you have to either go to Aquatic Environments (Davenport) or Sea of Marvels (North Liberty).

Thaks for the info. I visit aquatic environments all the time. Need to check out Sea of Marvels next time we head that way.

180 RR??

180 RR??

Terry, Did you find anything? Would you be looking used at all? I have a 180 all glass RR. Would you be interested in lights, sump, stand ect?

Sounds like a fun project Terry. Especially because you don't have to pay for it. Then again, you have to go to his house to see it.
