I used to work for this company a number of years ago...they make PAR sensors used for a number of applications...probably a little more expensive than what you might want to spend tho
If I remember, their product literature has some very interesting information on the subject of PAR measurement
Apogee are pretty much the standard for most hobbyists (and they aren't cheap). There are a number of companies I believe that make a "lux" meter, but it's probably not what you're looking for.
