Where to buy cast acrylic tubing by the foot?

I agree that if you stick with those two - you shouldn't have many problems.
Lexan does react differently and releases chlorine gas when cut with a laser. Lexan is not an acrylic so would react much differently than MMA/PMMA (acrylic).
I haven't seen continuous cast tube either but theoretically not impossible by any means, my guess would be that it would be spendy though. What the heck, Deltec can afford it if real :)

There are other plastics that could be made into tubing though such as certain polyesters, which would be extruded, have better impact resistance than acrylic and have a little color like the Deltec skimmers do. Still dunno, anyone got a Deltec they'll let me cut up? ;)

Um....ah....no  But hey, really it wouldn't be a big deal as I'm sure you could put it right back together or fabricate new pieces, right?

Seriously my point wasn't that the stuff Deltec uses is as good as cast, just that it wasn't the typical extruded found here.

Don't think Doug knows for sure & given Deltec keeps info close to the vest not sure they'll say.

James you might try PM'ing NAGA. He's been overseas & brought Deltecs back here (before there was a US distributer)....AND....like yourself he's a professional fabricator - maybe he can speak your language & tell you the differences he noticed (aside from few extrusion marks - last one I got was darn near cast clear).

Forgot - thanks both gents for adding more info on acrylic types/grades/variations.

LOL!, kinda odd that the L sheet would be any different but then again I don't have a laser engraver so I wouldn't know :)

When we first started engraving acrylic we got Lucite for whatever reason. Then we tried Chemcast GP and got much better results. It just frosts better than the Lucite and you don't see the lines the laser makes. I couldn't tell you why it acts differently, but ever since we tried the Chemcast we just use that, and occasionally some PolyCast depending on what good deals the distributor will give us. :) The Lucite cuts fine with the laser, it's just the engraving that was sub-par.
