Nassarius snails, cerith snails, nerite snails, turbo snails, scarlet hermits, urchins, fighting conch, scarlet cleaners... any suggestions?

reeftopia.com

they have free shipping over 100 or 120...cant remember. If you dont wanna spend that much, get a couple other people and have them order some stuff too to get you over that 100 dollar mark. Otherwise shipping alone is gonna be like 30 or so.

The tank's only 37g... so I don't think it'll be that much... depends on how many skunk cleaners I get. :D

the scarlet cleaner shrimp are usually not included as part of any clean up crew from online places, ... as far as I know

yeah, I know, they aren't really CUC but they're usually included with other inverts... :/

I always buy my cleaners at my LFS. That way I can hand pick out exactly what I want. Nassarius, Cerith, Astrea, and Turbos are my favorite. ;)

yup, lfs is the best, get some good relationships going with the lfs, they will start to give discounts to you to keep you as a loyal customer. They need your business.

I also agree with the above 2....for cleaner shrimp, its best to get them from the store. That way there's no complaint about them being tiny, old, beat up, whatever...Whenever i've ordered shrimp online, they've been any combo of the conditions i just listed.

Mkay, that's probably what I'll do. It's just they're pretty overpriced at my lfs, $30 for a 1" shrimp. But my mom doesn't know that's overpriced. :D

Thats really not that overpriced...only by 5 bucks. And are we talkin about the regular cleaner shrimp, or the blood red ones? Because thats a good price for the blood red ones.

... really? I hear a lot of people paying $20 for full grown ones...
And I'm talking about the regular ones.
It doesn't matter though, I'll get it anyway, I love shrimp.:p

Also, I'm kind of wondering exactly what to get. I'm going to have a pretty deep sand bed in part of the tank in preparation for a jawfish, so I guess Nassarius snails are important. I like Cerith snails so I'll want some of those, too. Astreas will die if they fall down... but how often do they land upside down?

I was thinking something like this:
10 Nassarius snails
5 Cerith
5 Nerite
3 Turbo
1 or 2 Scarlet cleaners
1 Pincusion urchin (like the ones on liveaquaria, my mom loves those)
1 Fighting Conch
and maybe a sea hare....

I'm pretty sure that's too much, but I have no problem with feeding them if they need it. I love inverts... I have a freshwater tank with nothing but inverts.

its not too much, you cant really determain how much you will need. Add little by little, if you still have algae add a bit more, keep adding until you have a perfect balance: Algae growing at the same rate the clean-up crew eats.

I prefer to buy my livestock from my LFS because they are good people there with a nice setup, and they will hook me up with discounts when i go in a lot. I also like being able to hand pick the specimens i want.

Yeah... okay. Livr rock should arrive tomorrow (it's cured fiji from premium aquatics) and I'll see if I can convince my mom to bring me to the fish store this weekend.

I just added a Scarlet Cleaner shrimp from the LFS for $19.

Yesterday I put my hand in the tank just above it and left it there for 3 or 4 minutes.
It slowly came up and then started picking at my cuticle (I had heard they do this, but never seen it). It tickled a little bit, but was very cool. It was only the second day I had him too.
He can also climb the glass and swim upside down across the surface of the water.
I am glad I added him to my tank, now I just need to train the fish to use his services.
The Blue-green Chromis learned how to ride the currents by watching the Perculas. I am hoping they will get the idea when they see him cleaning my fingers.
They are a bit small yet to though.
good luck with your CUC, I have been adding mine slowly. I now have 12 nasirius, 6 cerith, 10 scarlet hermits, 3 mexican turbos, and one zebra hermit, and 2 sand sifting stars in my 75 gallon.
