Where to buy Mantis Shrimp from

I guess this is the right forum i consider them a predator......i'm going to be setting up a species tank for them in the future and wondering if anyone knows where i can pick a few up from.....any online vendors that are reputable......thanks in advance

I have thought of setting up a species tank for those too. I really like the peacock shrimp is the coolest. I am not sure who sells them but I do know saltwaterfish.com has an option to pick "add to wish list" which I think means they do not stock it but might be able to find it for you. oh by the way dose anybody know anything else that can be Kept with them. I have read they will kill just about anything you put in with it.

You may want to check out the mantis forum, I know there are folks there that got their shrimp from online vendors or other hobbyists. Try your LFS too - they may get hitchhikers in shipments of LR or be able to order a mantis for you if you're after a particular species.

I work at a local Pet Store and we ordered 6 pistol shrimp
and the distributor sent 6 mantis shrimp, We have the strongest one left. He is a peacock, full of personality and in a 40 Breeder all by himself. If you are in the Appleton WI area stop by!

how far is baltimore from the water? If it is not too far you can usually find mantis shrimp at baitshops, they get caught with the bait shrimp. I am sure they would give them to you.

there is a LFS here in SOFL that has one that is about a foot long! you think those eyes are freaky at 2-3 inches...you should see then that big! sent shivers down my spine! YUCK!
