Where to buy pickling lime

I just checked publix, they didn't have it, where around town should I be able to buy pickling lime?

Sadly, it's seasonal at many of the Mega/chain grocery stores...

I'm able to get it at the smaller (Mom-n-Pop) sized stores because they keep it stocked (since only myself and old ladies buy it )

Wal-Mart has it seasonally. I would just buy it online for now and then when they start stocking it buy all that you can. I bought 2 cases (all the Mrs Wages they had) last summer to go all year.

Don't know if you have these stores in your area but I find them at grocery stores here in the midwest call "pricechopper"

making Kalkwasser... Pickling lime is the same thing as Kalkwasser commercially available product. It disolves and disassociates into a balanced ionic solution of Ca and Buffer .... or something

Go read up on Randy's and Bornman's limewater articles. Good stuff - been using it for years exclusively.

Go find a Mexican grocery store. They sell calcium hydroxide (lime) as "Cal" which is Spanish for hydrated lime. Nevermind the weird looks you might get from the cashier if you walk up with several bags of the white powder in your arms :lol:
