Where to buy Potter's Wrasse

I just found one at my LFS. They didn’t know what it was actually. Just said it was from Hawaii. Seems to be doing well so far but it’s only been a week. Haven’t seen any listed online in quite a while.

small wrasse from Hawaii will become few and far between due to the ban. Prices will continue to rise also.

Beg TO differ ..... Lol

Regardless, are you sure? I was under the impression that they we're also collected in places like Tonga. Link?

Thanks Simon for the correction, must have fat-thumbed on my phone. I apologize if I came off rude, not my intentions.

Hoover J.P. (2008)The Ultimate Guide to Hawaiian Reef Fishes, Sea Turtles, Dolphins, Whales, and Seals. Mutual Publishing. p. 342.

According to that, they are endemic to the Hawaiian Ialands. Another google search takes you to a reference from 1978 saying their range is the Hawaiian Islands, Polynesia, Micronesia, and the East Indies.

Randall, J.E., 1978. A revision of the Indo-Pacific labrid fish genus Macropharyngodon, with descriptions of five new species. Bull. Mar. Sci. 28(4):742-770.

Take that however you want:)

No no, I meant it as a joke ..... I'm a regular victim of bad typing and/or auto correct. Fascinating though as I always thought the potters wrasse was widely distributed. I wonder what it is about that particular coloration in Hawaii  I had a really nice potters male that I ended up selling off because it got quite aggressive to my other leopards - always regretted it!
