where to buy sand from?

I am starting up a 88G reef. Where locally in LA area should I get sand from? I don't want to pay $29 for 20Lbs, as I need around 200Lbs. Does homedepot sell paysand that we can use?

im in board, I need about 150lbs of sand and I am looking for dry. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

try marine depot. I bought 40lbs of sand for $25. Do a will call order and you wont have to deal with shipping.

that is still expensive, I heard they go for $10 for a 50lbs bag. It just seems that no shops seems to have it in stock.

lowes has quik-crete play sand 5 for 50 pounds thats what i have its very fine sand and is a tiny gray but i love it

im using the play sand. im almost certain im going bare bottom with my new tank so PM me if you want my old sand. i have about 100lbs of it sitting in my old tank still with water and circulation. im in west LA

$5 for 50Lbs x 4 = 200Lbs (5" DSB) and two LiveSands ~$40 to liven it up.

I need the DSB because I will have a few Jawfish which burrow

I believe that sand has silica in it

I used it in the past on my 150G and did not have any issues over a year period (sold the tank after that). I just didn't like the color too much (a little greyish). But to save over $200 it is worth it.

I was just looking to see if anyone else in SoCal knew a secret to get the real deal for cheaper.

The Lowes in Pico Rivera has some there. Or you can do the Lowes home delivery too.

I'll just get 2 bags from Marine Depot. I tried the sand from Lowes before. It was a pain to rinse.
