Where to buy Snowflake Clownfish?

So one of my clowns jumped over the false wall in my 24ga nano tank....and wound up stuck in the propeller of the pump.

I'm thinking of getting two new Snowflake Clownfish.....and giving my last remaining clown to a trusted live fish store. He's having an "unhealthy" relationship with my purple pseudochromis....they both hang out in the back of the tank like two hoodlums. They're probably smoking pot and cigarettes when I'm not looking.

However when I do a Google search for "Snowflake Clownfish", I get only a couple of websites....and only 1 site out of all of those shows the EXACT fish they are selling. Everyone else has a crap shoot.

So I know it's illegal to post links....but can you guys/gals give me some recommendations?

Or

Is anyone from So Cali? If so, can you recommend a store that carries them and enough in sufficient stock for me to pick and choose? There's one place in Long Beach called "age of aquariums" and they have some clowns (percs) but not Occy's and the selection isn't that huge.

thanks

Oh and I'm not in any sort of rush to get one.....I'm moving in 3 weeks and don't want to add any new fish until after the tank move. Of which I'm not looking forward to.

+1 on this I would like to know aswell. Have you tried the Craigslist search? Let me know what you find. Thanks I live in . L.b

You're in Long Beach? You know age of aquariums? I was in there last week and one of the employees told me they have some sort of "show" or "event" coming up in mid January.....Jan 15th......and that they might have a huge selection of really good looking clownfish (like snowflakes/etc) in the store for sale.

Didn't get the name of the employee or nothing.

So I might wait until then and see if they get anything new. But out of all the fish stores (I'm over in Newport Beach), they got the best selection for clowns that I know of.

saltwaterfish.com and ibluewater.com

thank you, looking at those websites now.

Was at age last week. Black ice 75$ each.
I went yesterday and 50$ each so I picked up 2 clowns. They look good

Those percs or occy's? I saw the black ones they had there, they looked great but I'm only into snowflake occys because I love the way they look. I saw some at the reef-a-palooza and have been looking for a pair since.

Out of all the fish stores in the OC area (and I know AoA is in Long Beach)....I like those guys the best. But it's really far from my place in Newport Beach, but it's well worth it. Everyone is cool and knowledgeable.

I'm going to stop by after my move and hopefully they will have a huge selection of snowflakes due to that one thingy their employee told me about.

I called earlier today....they are sold out and won't have any in until late next week or the following week.

I'd much rather buy in a fish store than online.

I don't blame you, it's always nice to see the fish before buying it.
But, if you plan on buying their only 2 snowflakes they ordered in, there is no saying that the fish will look any better than the ones you could've ordered online.
After-all your LFS has to order their fish from someone, usually ORA, so the fish is still shipped regardless.

I am all for supporting local LFS, but sometimes the selection and customer service is better online.

They're black ice something.

So you know, Petco has 20% off all clownfish this month. If your local Petco isn't one of the "good" ones, have them order for you and call you when they arrive, so you have the chance to pick out yours before they go into the store's system. I do that all my special request customers, and there's no obligation to buy the ones that come in if you don't like them. I've had some gorgeous clowns come through my store (most of which came home with me lol). If the store has the option, I would personally have them order them through sustainable aquatics as I like the quality of the clowns they send me.

My clowns all 3 of them. Haha so far so good since my current stubby female is okay. I hope there's 13 bta and 1 huge purple gig!

Interesting....but this month is almost over. Like literally....

Can you recommend a Petco in the Orange County CA area that might be able to special order these clowns? 20% off $180 is a nice little chunk of change.

I have never seen a Petco in this area that has saltwater fish. Although there might be one in Redondo Beach, CA?

Never ever buy fish from petco or a bib box retailer they take horrible care of there fish
however, if you order fish from petco online, the fish come from the distributor, not the store, and their fish arrive in very good health i have found and heard others have had good experiences too. my only complaint was a lacking of communication with shipping specificity...in that, i never got a confirmation email saying my order was shipped nor did i get a tracking number, but according to their site, 1 day for filling the order, 1 day for shipping held true.

I should of said sale just started and goes till 1-25-14. What snowflakes are you looking for?!? Premium (ORA) are going for ~ $60 ea right now with the sale, I got my ORA black snowflake (not black ice ) for 80 plus my discount.
I personally take fish home in the bags they ship in, and as I said, offer the same option to my customers that will pick up within a couple hours after arrival.

As far as big box stores, it really depends on the staff so it really is night and day from store to store. I run my Petco fish dept and I do my best to keep everything up to par, but with high volumes it is a tightrope walk for sure. The Petco "magnet" store program is geared towards the stores with the right staff to really stand out from the rest, so ask for the nearest magnet store if your store doesn't have a fish dept that can meet your needs. Either way support you local stores, or improve them by getting a knowledgeable hobbyist to work there and make a difference.
