Where to buy???

I have just recently gotten into collecting "rare" corals I am interested in buying some acans,micros and whicker corals. Does anybody have any idea where i can buy some good lookin and not to pricy frags of these

lol rare=expensive point blank. Whisker AKA Duncasn you can get almost anywhere for $15 bucks a polyp so all in all IMO they are that rare any more. For more rare color morph acans and micros you just have to look around. I like the following sites...

Yah, rare = EXPENSIVE. What I have to say is in regards to rare. You might find something from time to time at phishybusiness. Same with Fraggle. Hardly from Reefermadness.

If you're truly into rare acans and micros, go with thecaptivereef.com. Darklordcoral.com, if they ever get their site up and running again.

For truly nice acans, you can expect to pay over $100 per polyp for the Japanese stuff. But you can find alot of Aussie ones for way less. However, Aussie isn't rare. So if you want rare and nice, you're looking for Japanese stuff.

I've bought alot from captive reef and while it was expensive, sometimes more then what I wanted to pay. But when I got the shipment I was blown away. The micros and acans were way better then I thought they would be.

Fragglereef seems to go through good periods and not so good periods. Right now is a good period, IMO. Reefermadness usually only has cool SPS.

If you want rare acans you are most likely looking for rare color morphs, otherwise A. Hillae and A. Maxima are pretty uncommon right now. A. Lordhowensis is the most common species, with medium sized polyps and tons of morphs.

Another thing about Fragglereef - a lot of times they won' t have as good pictures as some other sites. So, while you are getting the same quality or nicer stuff, it may not seem that way until you get it in your tank.

The best thing you can do is alot of looking at diff. sites online. I have stumbled upon 5 or so sites I use often to buy stuff from because they are have SUPER nice pieces cheap and some of them offe free shipping to me due to my location. So my best advice is... look around and you will find a site people don't know about that has great stuff. Call me greedy or what you will, but I think the people who have been in the hobby for some time, including myself, have these sites bookmarked but don't give them out. Sort of like a diamond in the rough...
