Where to get a red/blue Haddons carpet

I am breaking my 60 cube down in to a custom 48" x 20" x 16" tank and want to use the extra space created for a Haddoni. Currently I have 5 RBTA but will be getting rid of 2 and want to try something a little different. I would love to keep a Gig but my understanding is that they get a little larger and pose more of a challenge than the Haddoni. My tank is LPS dominated.

Anyways, that said I am trying to figure out where to get either a red or blue haddoni. I live in Oklahoma City but ordering online and driving to Dallas are both options. However, I know that I am going to pay a premium for either of those same as if I have my LFS order one. Has anyone had luck finding these at a PetCo and getting them to color up?

I've been looking for a gig or haddoni recently. apparently around now through September they start coming around. idk if that's true or not, but I've read it a couple of times on these forums.

Petco sometime can get Bright green Haddoni.

I find that Haddoni or Gigantea is about the same in difficulty of care, just that it is much harder to get healthy Gigantea to start with.
The Gigantea that I got from Petco color up really nice for me. One multicolor and several turn green, but not the bright green that most of us want. Still a healthy Gigantea is nice even if he is not the brightest of the anemones. If Gigantea is the anemone you after then just get healthy ones, color is secondary. I will see if I can come up with a few of my anemone pictures for you.
Jimmy at Reef Lounge USA can get anemone for you. He was the one that got me my Blue Haddoni. He can tell the different between Haddoni and Gigantea. He will ship healthy anemone to you and will not a sick animal in the bag to get it out of his store (IME and IMO)
Really nice red Haddoni is much harder to get than green, blue or purple ones and will cost you.

My blue and my red Haddoni(s) (how do you spell plural Haddoni?)

I just met Jimmy at Reef Lounge. He runs a nice shop and knows his anemones. Bob at iBlueWater knows his nems as well, but you will pay a steep premium. You will not find either a red or blue haddoni normally stocked at Petco. They rarely stock haddoni unless customers ask for them, and they are typically dull green. My local Petco did say I could order a neon green one if I wanted. Your Petco may be able to order a haddoni for you.

My suggestion is to order one through your LFS. Both blue and red haddoni are not rare, but many LFS won't stock them because the demand is generally relatively low and the cost relatively high, therefore making the risk not worth it.

OrionN thanks for the information. I may go with a Gig if I come across a healthy one as I actually prefer them. I was just always under the impression that their care level was much higher.

D-Nak, I have a pretty reputable LFS that said he will get me any color I am looking for and you are probably right about this being the way to go if I order local. Both you and OrionN recommending Reef Lounge means I should probably check it out.

Gigantea, I have looked at iBLuewater and they had some fantastic nems I just wasn't crazy about the cost as it was a bit higher than my LFS was quoting me.

Thanks everyone with the replies, my tank should get here in 2 weeks and I'm pretty pumped about getting a stichodactyla whichever variety it might be. I just hope I am ready for the challenge (will just be moving my rock work and water over it won't be a completely new tank). I really want a Gig, My lighting will be fairly intense (Kessil about 12-16" from the anemone) and I can put some direct flow across the oral disc my only concern is about my tank only being 20" wide. I also want to verify again that once healthy a gig is relatively similar (in difficulty) to keep as a Haddoni.

Again, thanks everyone!
