Where to Get Base Rock?

Now that ReeferRocks is gone...who is selling base rock online? Prices at LFS's are crazy. I'm looking for just plain old base rock (calcium carbonate) that I can start seeding with my current stuff for my new, BIG, tank.

I don't know if they are still around, but I've heard Hirocks has really good baserocks that color up well (and quick).

In Utah a lot of reefers here, including myself, have collected our own base rock. It's called Lake Bonneville Tufa Rock (LBTR) and is a great idea for base rock. I've also seen some tanks where all rock is LBTR that has been seeded. Takes awhile to get color and colonize bacteria, but after a few years you can't tell the difference from other live rock.

On the website, it says they are now retired, and they mention some medical issues (bad back)...from lifting all them dang rocks!

I wish you luck. I ordered 90 lbs from there a couple weeks back. Waited a week and never heard anything. Took more than another whole week to get a refund. The person I dealt with was nice enough - just seems like he has a hard time getting the other places to ship the rock out.

I needed to start my tank so I just could not sit around waiting for weeks and weeks for it to ship.
 
Got my rock today. Looks like fiji rock to me. Got 2 large pieces and a few small & medium sized pieces as I requested. Now my 90g is complete as far as rocks are concerned, 50# base 90# live.

Very good! I was very sad that they were unable to fullfil my order. I am happy yours worked out!
 
Hey TJcop where are you located? I have 2 FULL 20 gallon rubbermade trash cans full of live rock from my 120 I am looking to get rid of (skimmer and circulation in both containers). Alot of it is pretty good live rock as well. Bout 200# in all.
 
I am very glad I bought the rocks from Reefer Rocks when I did. I bought the rock about 2 months before I needed it.

I bought the premium show tank stuff. Darn Glad I did.
