Where to get custom cut Acrylic UV Shield??? My canopy will be here by the end of this week and I want to install a UV shield within. It's for my 90g Bowfront. If anyone knows a good place, let me know, thanks!!! :)

Regular glass will work. If you are using DE bulbs without the covers that come with the fixtures you need UV shields but if you are using SE bulbs they are allready shielded via their globes. A piece of glass suspended below SE bulbs to prevent breakage from splashing is a good idea however IMO.

Thanks for that information Chris. I am using SE 20k XM bulbs. How about the evaporation part??? When I bought this retrofit kit, it says to keep away from moisture. I would rather put regular glass underneath it to prevent breakage. But there's still that bow part in the front where moisture can get by. Unless I keep the tops open, then I don't think moisture would be a problem. Let me know what you think, thanks!

I just suspend a couple of pieces of glass under my bulbs...most people don't even do that. I also run fans before lights come on the after they go off to eliminate condensation in the hood and help with evaporative cooling of the tank. The warnings on the retro are mainly for liability issues and while I don't think they should be totally ignored they are also very "conservative" safetywise FWIW.

That sounds good to me. I'll give that a try, thanks!

I have not had anything under my SE lamps for over 7 years, there is some spray on the lamps that I clean off during regular maint. and some salt creep on sockets that will build up after time. I have used part of the glass that comes with the tank from time to time but seem to go back to no glass for some reason?
