My hermits don't have any spare shells and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to get some. Most of my hermits are quite small, hard to measure them, but i'd say them + shell is 1/2 to 1 inch. They are all quite young, anyone know of where to buy some spare shells?

i would think your LFS will have some for that purpose ,check with them and see .

Your Lfs should have some empty snail shells they could sell or give you also when they get bigger you can by hermit crab shells here as well: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=497+501+1756&pcatid=1756

Hi, I get them at Hobby Lobby. Rinse them off. They are sold in little bags for crafts. Lesley
Just rinsing isn't enough. Boil them for about 5 minutes, then rinse well in RO/DI.

I got mine fom a craft store (Michael's). They have small bags w/ a variety of shapes and sizes, including larger sizes than an LFS would probably have.

Wow.....my LFS didn't have any and I never thought about a craft store so I ordered online and paid much more than I cared to. Next time craft store here I come!

Just beware -- they just keep getting bigger and bigger. I've put the largest shells I have in the tank and they're now all inhabited. I don't want them to get any bigger cuz they get clumsy and crawl all over everything!
And, I did boil them before putting them in.

wal mart has shells in their craft section too if there isn't a craft store in your town
