hey guys,
i'm planning a trip to jacksonville from august 15- 21 to visit my parents and i'd like to pick up some new stuff for my tank.
i was down about 2 years about and found a nice place called atlantis aquarium but i'd like to get some frag also.i love zoo's softies, and lps
thanks

First, you must go to Robs Reef in Orange Park. You may reach him at 272-7202 he has the best shop in town now with the most knowledgeable staff. Next go to Ocean Reef off of Atlantic Blvd at the beach not a very knowledgeable staff but a nice store with some good stuff. There number is 246-0999. Then you might try Atlantis now off of St. Johns Bluff Road, 3165 St Johns Bluff Road 620-8700. They are not what they used to be but you will find some SPS there. Also, there is a new store called Bio Reef off of Beach Blvd on a road called Regent Blvd, 3653 Regent Blvd suite 101, ph#674-0031. A nice looking store but expensive and did not see a lot of appealing corals but worth stopping in to see. Also, they are just around the corner from Atlantis Aquariums and across the street from the University. Finally you may want to check out the Fish Bowl. I have never been in the store, they were closed the few times I tried to stop by so you might call them first to see if they are open 2245 SR 210, ph# 823-1700. In truth the best store to see in town is now Robs Reef they have the best selection around for Zoos and tend to have a good selection of corals. Good luck hunting, let us know how you do and what is your impressing of our LFSs.

Agree with Patharm somewhat, I'm not a huge fan of Robs reef. If its coral and price your are looking for, go see Danny Colon at Fish Bowl Aquariums on sr 210, there isnt any one that has given me better advice and price on corals. As for Atlantic, they have a good selection of corals and "sometimes the price is right" it definatley worth a stop. Bioreef has the nicest setup, of any of the fish stores. The corals arent pto par yet as the tanks have only been running for 2 months, but he is due a shipment by the time you come in August. I went to Robs reef once and some of his corals were $10-$20 and higher than at Fishbowl. I would stick to the St johns bluff stores, i.e. Atlantic Aquariums, and Bioreef. Save your gas and money. imho

hey
thanks sounds like there are afew places to check out,i can't go on a trip without bringing home live stock.
any chance you guys have any frags floating around.my parents live on monument blvd. across from lowe's and cracker barrel.so if your close let me know

Pat,
Thanks for the review!

bmkindig,
We look forward to your visit if you make out our way. My cell phone number is (904) 860-2148. Call me if you think you might stop in, and I'll make sure I'm in the store when you get here.

I definitely agree with the suggestions about Rob's Reef. I was just there yesterday and as always, he has a good selection. I haven't been to the new BioReef store yet, so I'll leave that advice to those that have been. Atlantis is also another good store to check out.

As for Fishbowl, if you are looking for fish, they also have a good selection, but for corals, they have a very limited selection -- at least, that's been my experience.

I was in Fish Maniac on Beach the other day and they have gotten their reef tank back up and are starting to stock it again...As for Rob's his prices are competitive on most things, and the store looks good.

bump,

looking to update info in the area. i will be in jacksonville in early august, from like the 6th to the 12th or something like that.i'll be driving down and bringing a cooler if anyone has some frags they want to get rid of my dad has a tank running so i can stop byeduring the week.
looking for colorfull zoo's, ricordias, yellow leather or other different peices. i have a ton of anathlia if anyone wants some.

Visit Dan Co Fish Tails in Orange Park for sure! New shipment of Corals coming in this week. All the above are great suggestions still. I can't speak for The Fish Bowl store since I have never been there but we have many excellent stores in and around town.

If it was me I would not bother with AquaZoo. They really do not have many corals anymore.

On the westside you have Rob's.

On the Southside you have a little triangle with BioReef, Atlantis and Fish Mania all within 2 miles of each other. I don't think one is cheaper or more expensive then the others. Each has specials, different stock...... at different times.

There are some other stores that you could check out but these stores will have the better selection of corals.

It isnt his store he just works there on the weekends. I thought it was worth mentioning Dan's especially if your all the way down there at Robs anyways. Now we are so lucky to have multiple reef shops that are all good. If your shopping around, might as well look at all of them. So come on give Keri a break- I thought it was a great suggestion.
Carrie
PS if you want xenia or kenya I got tons!!

I know that...it's still not allowed to promote the store you work at. Just like one of Rob's employees can't come on here and promote his store.
