Where to get RO water?

Hi,

Newbie here. Just started my saltwater tank a couple of months ago. I was told that I can buy RO water by the gallon at water stores for 30 cents a gallon or so. Not having any success in finding them. Where do you get your water? Any place near Arden, Watt, Bradshaw, Rancho? Are the water dispensers at the local grocery stores feasible? Or do you have your own RO unit? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have my own RO system. Best investment ever, just buy one.
In the mean time Coral Reef Shop give RO/DI away for FREE!

I definitely would not recommend the water from water stores I tested the water from various water stores and I got high readings from my tds meter, if you can afford an RO/DI unit then I would go that route. You can actually find them as cheap as $100 on ebay but I have tested water from water stores and the water is definitely not feasable for a reef tank, but I have seen hobbyist who have had success using it.

Brian at Coral Reef Shop has RODI water that test clean as a whistle for FREE. While an RODI is a good investment, until you are ready CRS is your best bet as they have water for free and lots of jugs to move it.

I get mine from Exotic until i can buy my own filter, 20g free every day. If you need more then 20 a day, its 50c a gallon. Depending on where you live, it might be closer then CRS.

Exotic told me they don't even own an RODI system????

When did you call them? I go fill up with about 17g every 3 days, They have a big rental unit in the back next to the giant tank used to hold the seawater they sell. they also sell a few units for around $250-400

I just got 10 gal of RODI from Exotic yesterday for free, 20 gal is the max for free... They also sell premixed saltwater for $1 a gallon....

From what it looks like they are using an industrial di unit near their sink in the back...

On a unrelated note they are also setting up a huge tank near the skimmers which they said that they will stock as soon as they get some stuff on the way back from reefapalooza...

I know they don't use rodi on their tanks because they said they don't have a unit big enough?
I wonder if they have a small RO uint just for customers?

Hmm they mystery continues?
I have to ask again next time I'm down their.

there unit is a rental unit from culligan, its a 4' or 5' tall fiberglass co2 canister. Very large filter. The also use it to top off there tanks, at least i have seen them doing it...almost overflowed one of them last time i was there.
