Where to get silver sides?

Does anyone know where I could find some silver sides near Newark? I know I have asked this question before, but it’s very likely since then some place has stopped carrying it and another has started. I also wouldn’t be surprised if everyone was out of stock.

Jon

PS. Oh yeah I’m feeding a new coral. :-D

I don't know where to get them, but I am sure they will eat mysid shrimp as well, probably cyclopeeze too. I have a dendro that eats just about anything.

Nice coral by the way.

Chris

PS - I put my old lights in my car tonight so I won't forget them.

Check petsmart, or check just fish... They are kept in the little freezers that have fish food in them.

But i would feed you sun corals mysis shrimp, and do it every day to every other day... And if you have any shrimp you will probally need to make a feeding hat... I found out the hard way and my awsome sun coral is showing some skeleton because the shrimp will climb in their mouths and steel the mysis right from the coral!

P.S. Did you get that coral from Dr. Macs? :)

Now Shnabbles, where else would I have gotten such a nice coral. :-D
I think I will try to call Just Fish in a second if I can find their number.
I am going to try in a little bit putting some freeze dried kill in a cup with freeze dried cyclopeeze. The next question I would like to ask is suggestions for a feeding stick as well. In the future I may be feeding an eel as well and would like to pick up a good one soon.

I also finally picked up a MG test kit at Dr. Mac's, and some nori, and a tiger snail, and some blue leg hermits, zebra reef hermits, an emerald crab, a Hawaiian cowry, and a big piece of Fiji LR. I was hoping to save up my money to buy something big this month, but my money is all already gone, lol.

Jon, you might try PET KARE II in Pencader Plaza, in newark. I recently bought a one pound slab of Sally's frozen mysis shrimp there. they have a lot of frozen fish foods in their fridge back by the fish tanks. reasonable too. in fact i may be going back for a slab of SF bay frozen brine shrimp.

nice looking sun polyp!

WOW a 1lb slab... i must go get me one for my sun corals lol...

You will probally need to chop the krill up to very very small peices so the sun coral can eat it... Make sure you feed every polyp also. I knew you got it on Dr. Macs, I saw it on their site... Did you mail order it, or did you drive down there.

well, just got back from my shopping trip. got some frozen BS at PET KARE at pencader plaza, but unfortunately they didnt have silversides this time. they have a few 16 oz slabs of mysis shrimp though. the small kind . but i did see 8 oz packs of silver sides at the churchmans petsmart, by home depot and the christiana med center.

Yeah, I lucked out. The Petsmart had silversides their. I bought some krill as well for one of my freshwater predators. And of course picked up my salt.

Yep, they matched it no problem at all. Was great because it was normally 50? in the store and they had it on sale for 40 something and I got it for 31.89.

Jon, Just Fish has always carried Silver Sides and kept them in stock since they've been in business. I'm not sure of there price but I know I've always seen them in there fridge. I've made them my guaranteed food stop for my tank since they have always had frozen brine even when everyone else is depleted.
Just keep in mind in case of an emergency.

I was in there last night and found the silver sides. Thanks for the info though, lol. I also almost picked up a anemone crab, but couldn't tell looking at them which species they were since it was so long since I had seen pics.(The species that requires an anemone to host or not) hum..... Does anyone think I could keep them in a tank with Sun Corals.

Im pretty sure you could keep them in the same tank as a sun coral.

Hows the coral doing? How often are you feeind?

Mine is giving me headaches right now... A couple months ago i tried making my own coral food.... Added, scalops, shrimp, cyclop eze, oyster eggs, and zoo plankton blended it all up... fed that for about a month and a half and i dont think for some reason the coral was eating it because its started to show some skeleton and flesh recession on one side... Iv since been pounding it almost every day with mysis it just doesnt seem to want to get any better, infact its still headed in the wrong direction.. SOB

I might be reaching here, but I steer away from mussel type foods because of the fact those animals are basically waste processor units.
If you want to see how bad your local water sources are, test an oyster or scallop to see what exactly is inside it (chemically) lol.
I could be wrong but I'm not taking chances. Shrimps crabs and other animals are also considered waste processors but I don't believe from the exact same source since they're more of a scavenger than a filter feeder.
