Where to get them?

It seems most people get their colonies started with frags from other people, but i don't know many other reefers with large zoa colonies.

I recently received 3 frags of zoas and paly from zoanuts. They were infested with zoa eating nudis and spiral snails. I lost the palys, and one frag of zoas is down to 3 polyps, but coming back slowly. They ship their stuff with instructions on how to dip zoas for pests, and I did the dip, but it didn't kill anything except pods.

I talked to some local reef club members and they received their order with spiders, zoa eating nudis, and flatworms.

The prices are good, they're very friendly, and everything looked good despite all the pests, but I'll never risk it again after finding out my experience was not an isolated incident.

If you do get anything from there, be prepared to quarantine, not just do a dip.

Live Aquaria always has a good selection of small colonies in the Divers Den section, but they don't do frags. They also gaurantee everything for 14 days. I saw their facility at the swap and it's state of the art and very clean. Good quarantine procedures too. But like I said, they don't do frags, and the prices are usually closer to an lfs.
