start a petition to get a new forum. Lots of people, including me, have posted in the Feedback and Questions forums about it.

Most people put them over in the Reef Discussion forum. However some people skate by in the large tank section with system volumes above 180. Personally, I disagree with this practice, I believe the tanks should be separated by main display volume. I dislike seeing a 120, 125, 135, 150 etc. with a large sump being posted in the large tank forum. Take it to the extreme, does a 30 gallon tank with a 150 gallon rubbermaid stock tank for a sump qualify for the large tank forum?? Seems it would. And as nice as these systems can, they just dont belong in my opinion. But, not having a home drives them to it! I think its a great idea for a mid-size build forum.

I agree...

I also think there should be a builds forum/ section set up.
Maybe break that down into
Nano >55 gallons
55-179
<180

I am not so much interested in the builds as I am the husbandry & inhabitants of large tanks.

yeah, where is it going to stop..if someone has 5 small tanks of 40 gallons each, can they post them here too since it's a total water volume of 200 gallons

I say, break them down like above: (0-29, 30-179, 180+; (display volume only)) and for each category, have both : build threads, and showing-off threads.

For those out there with a 29.5 or 179.5 gallon tank... I guess you're out of luck! ha ha ha.

Really? The builds in the large tank forums are what I can read about all day. Some of these builds deserve to have their own reality shows dedicated to them. Seriously.

It should be more defined than that, 0-40 is a nano 41-199 is getting to be the norm. 200+ should be required for the large tanks section. Using Display tank sizes. More and more people are doing 120s to 180s on a regular basis and are all pretty close in physical size. My 150 for example is taller(29") than alot of 180s(24") and I have the same length as a number of them, the main difference being the width. Mine being 18" and the 180s being 24".

IMO

Nano Tanks 0-40 gallon display
Common Tanks 41-199 gallon display
Large Tanks 200+

Rick,

Don't be bashful, post it. If this is deemed the wrong place a mod will move it to where they feel appropriate.

Pico is the 0-3
Nano is 3-40
There really isn't a specific category for 41+
And what people consider "Large" tanks is much like beauty; that is in the eye of the beholder.
