Where to start on keeping SPS

I have been keeping a 75 gallon tank for 1.5 years and have had great luck with some basic zoas, frog spawn, and mushroom corals. They all look great but i want to get started with SPS soon.
I wanted to know where is a good place to start. Is there a good book or a good website that will help me through this process. I'm in no hurry as i want to do this right.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

internet is the greatest help :)

read as much as u can.

then you will be all confused as of who to believe, and what method works the best, then you decide to take things in your hand, and get a monti cap frag. lol

you basically need good water parameters, goof flow, and good lighting.

i would read all the different forum post on sps. learn about different type of sps, their individual requirments, put together a mental list of what you want, acquire them in order of ease or care, implement what you have learned, ask question and addjust acordingly. use the search function to do background search on this site and alway ask questions if your confused or want some additional info. good luck.

btw: green slimer is indestructable (at least from what i exp)

As for my systems...it is a 75 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. Got about 75-100 live rock. I have a aquatinic light with 378 watts of light(combining actinic, purple, and day lights). I have about 2000 gallon/hour flow not counting the return on the sump which is about 300 gal/hour. In the tank i have a yellow tang, 2 p. clowns, a lawn mower blennie, and a coral beauty angelfish.
As for water params all are withing normal except for the slighly elevated Ca levels.
Anything else? I'll gladly provide it

u can use more flow in the tank

also what type of bulbs ?

what is the no3 and po4 ? using low range kits

also any Fuge ? skimmer ?

Not showing any PO4 at now but i am running a phospate reactor. The NO3 is very low. less than 10ppm. Yeah im using pretty good kit for testing.
The bulbs are VHO T5 bulbs. 1 figi purple, 2 actinics, and the rest day light

I have a skimmer rated for a 100gal tank. The sump was just recently set up and a fuge is in the works(alreay a compartment for it in the sump)

I'd say just go buy a monti cap frag and a green slimer frag and see how they do. They are easy to take care of and are cool.

The most important thing when it comes to SPS is stability. You want to decide on how your going to maintain Ca, Alk, and Mg and then maintain a specific amount of each on a daily basis. It doesn't take much of a swing to kill SPS which is why they can be tricky. My best advice is to get something like dosing pumps of a Ca reactor that is going to automate your dosing, and invest in quality test kits because you will be using them quite a bit at first.
