which anemone would be best for me?

So we were looking at different anemones for our 29 gallon and trying to get an idea of what would work best with our lights. We have 2 24 watt T5's and a 150watt hqi daylight setup with a lot of flow in the tank. We have a sissy maroon clown that we have actually considered getting perhaps a larger percula. I know its not usually possible but we had a dwarf angel when we first started the tank and it was a complete jerk to everyone keeping the clown in the corner and have been told by local reefers that observed it that we could probably pair it with a different species and still be fine. any ideas on the anemone however? there is a gorgeous 5inch around magnifica at the lfs . . .

sandbed is about 3inches of fine sand, store has lots of green carpets and just got in pink and blue as well. there is actually one blue one that is just fantastic to look at

But do you know what type? Haddoni, gigantea, or mertensii ?

Do they look this these at all? Both are Haddoni's

An LTA would be the better choice, though they do prefer a deeper sandbed.

they do but the blue looks more dyed then that vibrant of a blue as in your picture. The only reason I really got the upgraded lights was for an anemone and maybe a few mushrooms but want the anemone as the centerpiece and would rather have it than anything . . .

im reading that the carpets are just going to be far too large for my system eventually. id rather find a decent one that we can keep in the tank for a great deal of time. if i was stuck with the bta do they stay smaller?

I understand that, I have anemones in each of my tanks.

Yea, I was thinking that a Haddoni would get too large.

While BTAs do stay smaller, they can get big too. The last one I had was at least 12" across when I sold it. But, I still think that an BTA would work, or it you prefer an anemone on the sandbed, an LTA might work too.

EDIT -- I do have 2 LTAs in my 29, though I am going to sell one of them in a while.

probably just misread, but were you going to put the maroon and the percula in the same tank? If so the will likely kill each other, I've seen it too often.

ya well i had help with setting up a qt but having people observe my maroon interacting with other fish they said hey its worth a shot. so i got a perc today thats over twice the size of my gsm and the anemone that he was hosting in. its a magnifica and i know they can be difficult sometimes but i had one in my old 210 for 3 years before getting out of the hobby and then this one i have watched at the lfs for 4 months. my lfs is nice enough to hold things i like for a few months so i can observe them, the guy even let me borrow one of his extra skimmers to try on my tank. too bad theyre not all like this lol . . .

Good, I think the magnifica will benefit greatly from the added water volume.

Do post pics, I always love to see a magnifica!
