Alright guys,
I've always wanted a large angel. I really like the pomacanthus/holacanthus species. My question to you is, which angel should I get for my 180? I know, I know, most angels get too large for my tank for life. I'm not going to keep them there forever, don't worry. I really like the Queen, Emperor, and Blueface Angels. Out of those, which do you think would fare best with a Dogface Puffer (who is a 7 inch BABY), 8 inch Vlamingi Tang, and Princess Parrotfish (who is doing incredibly well, she eats like a pig)? Oh, and on a side note, I was going to order said angel from either Bluezooaquatics or LiveAquaria. Which one do you guys prefer? I like BZA because I get free shipping on orders more than one hundred and forty bucks (I'm cheap, I know), but I know that LA has, from what I hear, superb quality.

Thanks!!:twitch:

Other.

I say get one you can keep for its entire life in a 180. How about a navarchus or meredithi?

The emperor and blueface angels are pushing it for a 180. And the queen grows to big but are amazing looking fish.
Yes, I'm aware of the fact that the queen would get too big. I was going to start it off as a juvi, and let it gro to around 10-ish inches, and sell it (making a profit as well). And yeah, I'd have someone who'd wanna take it off my hands.

I like the navarchus, but I've heard that it's one of the "touchier" angels. But, I guess it stays rather small and peaceful for a large angel. The Personifer, on the other hand, is a little too expensive for me, my mother only lets me go up to 250 bucks, and then says no(I'm only 15). :uhoh3:

True, navarchus aren't the most indestructible, but they are hardy once settled. Meredithis are not expensive like personifers (different species). I got my meredithis from petco for around $100 each.

idk if you would make a prfit. all the time and money and food and husbantry might offset the profit

Yeah, I guess it all depends on how they're handled, where they come from, etc.
And oops! I guess I confused the two! Oh well, they look close enough, haha.:D
Personally, I don't really care for them. I think they're kinda bland, in comparison to other angels.

Ehhh, true, I guess. But still, I'd be able to keep one of my favorite fish, and the money would come much later, so I guess it d.oesn't really matter if I would/n't make a profit. But yes, you have a point.

My meredithi takes offense to that comment :D

Hahaha, it's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I personally would prefer a Holacanthus/Pomacanthus species as opposed to the meredethi. But that's just me.
It's got a more subtle beauty as opposed to, say, a Queen's instant pop of color.

I like the Blue Girdled Angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchus) and Scribbled Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus duboulayi) personally, not sure if they are in your budget or not, but I would get one if I had a big enough tank for one of the two...

thats back in the day prices peter. no where you find a false personifer anywhere now for $100 bucks.

LA, BZ, and everywhere i've seen, they typically run $300 or more.

maybe a small juvenile fro cheaper, but i hardly ever see those available.
