Which anthias should I get?

I'm thinking about adding a trio of Pseudanthias flavoguttatus or Pseudanthias smithvanizi, of the two which seem to be easier? I've owned anthias before, just never these.

Lyretail are my favorite and relatively easy to keep.

I'm not looking for easy necessarily, hobby wouldn't be fun if I couldn't continue to challenge myself :) I like both these wrasse and I know both of them are some of the trickier spp. of anthias and both very beautiful. Thanks everyone for input.

Smithvanzi (Princess) are one of the tougher pseudoanthias to acclimate and keep.

Yeah I know, I thought both of them were tricky just didn't know which was harder. I kind of figured the Smithvanzi were due to being deepwater but I don't have experience personally or know anyone who does so I wanted to ask. Thanks Ca1ore.

Personally I've had better luck with the red saddled, but probably not a large enough sample size to draw any particularly useful conclusions. I prefer the look of the smithies though (ain't that always the case).

Heh, noticed I said wrasse on earlier post when I meant to put anthias but I was just too busy at work . I am going to go with the Red Saddled Anthias, thanks everyone for the help.

I recently purchase 5 flavoguttus - they were in great shape, but they'd only just arrived. I have a non-photosynthetic tank, and feed a ridiculous amount to sustain 20+ gorgonians (+ Larry's reef frenzy 1-2 times a day for the fish). I could only get 3 of them to eat, and those survived, the other 2 did not.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I read you have to feed often to maintain these - they mean it. hopefully nutramar ova will be available soon, and all of these difficult to feed fish will become less problematic.
in the meantime, my 3 like Larry's food and doc's eco eggs most as far as I can tell.

I've successfully kept anthias in the past and I fed 3 times daily, thanks for the help though on food choices. I will be looking out for nutramar ova, have been waiting on that myself.

Good luck. I purchased a Tiger Queen Anthias (Lori) yesterday. Paid only $15. It looks similar to the one you want but is supposed to be slightly easier to take care of based on LiveAquaria's fish profile.

Personally I have found lori antgias to be among the more difficult anthias to keep. Significantly more difficult than flavoguttatus.

At the risk of offering too much information .....

Have you considered either the resplendent or randalls? They are almost identical in appearance, and are (IMO/E) quite a bit easier to keep than either the smithies or flavos. I've got a group in QT right now and have had no trouble at all getting them all to eat.

Pictures include a pair of smithies and the seven resplendents.

I help a friend with his rank and he put in a mix of lyre tail, disbar, and pink queen I think. In total 15 went in at once. And I was shocked how fast they acclimated and we're not shy at all. Here is a photo of the male lyre tail.
