Which ballast runs 20,000K the best

Hi Jason, I am considering making the switch to 20,000K radium MH. I would want to go with 400W. I have heard that these bulbs run well on both the Blueline e-ballst, and HQI core & coil type ballasts. Which one do they run better on not taking $ into consideration?

Hi,

I have not had a chance to try the 20K on the eballast yet. We did compare the 20K on a PFO standard and PFO hqi ballast though and it's night and day difference. The Hqi ballast ran the bulb about 25% brighter and much more clean. So i know the hqi ballast does a great job.

The Eballast is build to simulate a standard halide ballast specs but saves you electric cost. So i would imagine the Eballast would perform more like the standard PFO ballast, but this is just a guess, not sure if the electronics would automatically adjust for the bulb, but since Eballast says it can't run hqi double end bulbs, i'm not sure.

If you are not in a hurry, we plan on setting up an Eballast with 20K very soon.

Hqi is still pretty new to us, although on the market many years. We run test on the 10K ushio bulb as well, and the hqi ballast out performed the standard on intensity and was much more clean color as well,

jason
