Which calcium reactor media?

I am putting together a calcium reactor package for a reef I take care of, and have pretty much decided on a GEO. GEO recommends the expensive coarse media. I was just wonderin if its really a justifiable extra expense.

Right now I'm leanin toward using ARM, but would appreciate some input. On the far extreme anyone out there using plain old aragonite?

It amazes me that some of this stuff sells for more per pound than some LR Ive purchased.

The Geo reactor I got suggests using the Schuran large grain media. But I uses the A.R.M. stuff. I just got mine running so I cant really say yet how its going to work.

i run schuran media. never used any other media but i can drive the reactor down to 6.2 with no media melting issues.

I just ordered some Pacific Coast Gen-X large media but it won't be here until next week. I wanted to avoid the A.R.M. meltdowns.

I use A.R.M. in both of my reactors. Works great. You don't need to run the ph as low with A.R.M. as you do with some of the other media. Keep your ph between 7.0 and 7.5 and you'll be fine.
