which calcium reactor shouold i get?

i have the largest geo reactor on my 75 gallon. rated up to 1000 gallons i think. i barely have it running. i guess it is an excuse for a bigger tank.

wow Fishy.. Thats a huge Reactor for that Tank.. I run the 1502 on my 224g tank... No problems at all... Replace media every 3-4 months and the Co2 almost yearly..

I bought it with the intentions of upgrading to a big tank someday. I figured I would have to crank the thing all the way down with the CO2 and the effluent. I was wrong......I had to increase my bubble count to 1/second and the effluent from is almost dripping at a steady stream.

Murph one thing for sure though is adding a CA reactor is like steriods for your corals/clams.

Good luck with your search.

Salifert alk tests when doing low Resolution testing will read about 30 dkh... Reading x 2 = actual... Then Refil the Syringe for anything higher than 30 dkh...

As for the Co2 on the Korallin its Pressurized so using smaller amounts of Co2 achieves the Same low pH in the reactor... With it being pressurized and the Co2 shutoff feature It can be a pain with Airlocks but Its also a safety thing so you dont dump too much Co2 into the reactor/Tank..

do ca reactors get water from topoff reservoir or from the sump?.. what pumps it out, and back in?
is it neccessary to use a doser? or can it be gravity fed?

i use a rubbermaid sump and cant use a doser on it..

Ca reactors get Fed from the tank... The method depends on how its hooked up... I have a Tee off my return line feeding the reactor..

Is there any problems with getting a CA reactor that is rated for more than your tanks volume? I was looking for a GEO for my 65gallon but was thinking of the model for either 300gallon or 600gallon for an upgrade later.

broe33: Do you run your reactor 24/7???

wastemehphis,

I have a reactor that is rated for a tank up to 800 gal. on my 125. I run the reactor 24/7 and it does a fine job of keeping my KH/CA balanced.

anyone use the deltech unit? im contimplating on buying it but if i can find one for my 125 cheaper and as reliable what the heck

I have a Deltec PF501 on my 90g sps tank. i like it. easy to set up and seems to work well. It was my first reactor and I have only had it set up a couple weeks so i don't have much to compare it to.
