Which Gen-X Pump?

ASM G1 skimmer. Looks like I can get either

Gen X submersible GX1000 water pump with Needle Wheel

or

Gen X submersible GX2400 water pump with Needle Wheel



Will the 1000 be enough power?


Will the 2400 be too much?



I was currently using a Sedra 2500 with the mesh mod.

Jeff I think the 2400 would do just fine. Hell if I could afford it I'd up grade my G3 pump from a 5000 to the 9000.

Personnally I think a Iwaki 55RLT pump would work perfect.

Let me know when you are doing yours, I just got my 2400 in today and am trying to figure out how to do the mod. I bought a scrubber, but am thinking I should just go with enkamat to begin with. I just hooked up my pump stock and it does nothing lke my mag 7 did on the skimmer, so I'm hoping the mod will help a lot.

I just have an old berlin that I"m making work until I can afford an H&S or similar....funny thing is that berlin skimmed REALLY good for what it is. I had a mag 7 on it but it finally died a month ago or so, been going skimmerless for a month and the sps are hurting so I am needing something to make it a few months...definitely let me know on the mesh, I want to give it a try.

Are you planning on making a disc for the mesh or trying to put it on the current impeller? I was thinking of finding a hole saw and trying to make a disc...

I don't know what the gen-x propeller looks like. but yeah i'll be putting the mesh over the current propeller.

If the Berlin is one with a venturi for air injection AFTER the pump a mesh mod won't help, I hope you are running it w/o the stock venturi.
