Which Jebao?

Shallow Reef

New member
Hi guys I have a single Jebao pump for my current nano tank and I love it. I will be moving all my stock to my 48" x 30" x 16" shallow tank and I need a suitable jebao pump but which one out of them all will be most suitable. I will be getting one with the dual controller rather than one powerful pump to calm the flow.

Would a dual controller wp40 do it or will wp25 be enough? I would imagine a wp60 would be too powerful even on lower settings.

Thanks

WP25 gets my vote...............they are very powerful small pumps.
Or go with the twins controller and 2 WP10's.

+1 with the RW series. They are more controllable and apparently have a wider flow pattern with a lot of undertow.

If it was me i would go with two rw-8 i have them on my 90 and love them

Whats the price range on these and do you get 2 pumps as standard?

Thanks I will definitely have a look out for these as I would prefer a pump with a wider flow.

I would have thought wp10's would be too low for the amount of flow turnover I need for the tank, as the tank capacity is over 300 liters.

Go bigger!!! The pumps are controllable, so you can turn it down. The larger pump will put out a wider stream and hit more of the tank.

the dual controller 25's. the 40's are much larger than the 25's and if you are not going to use the full flow of them why have them taking up that much space. the new line of jaebo powerhead/wave makers looks awesome too, but i have only witnessed the wp models first hand. i have the dual 40's in a 180 and love them.

I meant the jebao new RW series. I have 2 wp40's in my 120 right now. Actually 1 since the 2nd crapped out. I wanted more flow than I was getting so I ordered 2 RW 20's which should arrive Friday.

Looking it up the rw-8 looks very promising. So there is a rw-8 and a 15, which one will be most suitable? (RW15 - 1200 - 15000LPH) (RW8 - 700 - 8000LPH)
The main question I need to ask is do I need more than 8000lph of flow in my tank? Would it be best positioning it in the middle of the 4ft side or on the 30" tank side so it will be pumping water across the longest length of the tank?

Nice. Let me know how it turns out and if the spread is very wide compared to the jebao, as I like the wave mode in the jebao pump the way it rocks all the water side to side at once, but I would prefer if it is much calmer in the sense that more than enough movement in the tank water but spreaded out so much that its not in a obvious way. I would like the whole tank to look very calm, if you get my drift lol

But yeah please write your review here for us all to see even if its a few pointers as I am very up for purchasing this now.

Thanks

There awesome pumps!! I use to run all vortech pumps on all our tanks untill the jabeo line came out. Im so glad it did. now all my customers see that we no longer use vortechs and they want the jabeo lol. had them on our tanks for 2 years with nothing but great results.

I have two RW8' s on my 4' 75 gallon tank. I like them. I can run them at full power in the (W1or W2) wave mode. That creates a max wave that is about an inch high without trying to sync them or doing any adjustment. They are very inexpensive and so far seem to be a great pump. They also have a sync function via wireless interfaces, but I haven't used it.

I've been running them for a couple of months. I do remember noticing some minor issues with the controls but nothing that makes me regret buying them. Honestly, I don't even remember what the issues were. The users manual is kinda' lame.

I thought about RW15's but decided the smaller profile of the RW8's looked better in my tank.

I have 2 RW-15's on my standard 6 foot 180....i have them about 1/4 of the way speed wise and they still blow sand...theyre crazy nice and strong. If you want them to look decent and pump alot of water, go with two RW-8's. I wish I would have done that now...

I think 'rw-8 seems like the most sensible option. I don't like it when the sand gets blown causes all sorts of uneven levels of sand. I will have a minimal scape so I will buy one and see how it goes.

Thanks All

MP40 v wp40 v rw20

RW 20 isn't too big but it moves a ton of water! Too much for my 120 gallon even though I'm bare bottom.

RW-8 if you have sand, RW-15 if you run BB.

RW-15 moves a lot of water. I know it's rated for "only" ~3100GPH, but at full speed it moves dramatically more water by volume than a Tunze 6105. When positioned ~6" below the surface and pointed directly at the opposing wall of my 120, it moves more water in a gyre motion (towards the opposite wall in the top 1/2 of the tank, towards the pump in the bottom 1/2 of the tank) than two 6095s running at 100%. Extremely wide flow. A Tunze (or the WP series Jebao pumps) generate an extremely high velocity stream. The RW pumps create flow that's more akin to a moving wall of water, more like what you feel in an ocean current.

At full tilt ~4" below the surface it generates enough flow to create vortices that pull down air on the opposite side of a 4' 120. In a 40b it will generate strong enough vortices against the far wall to pull bubbles halfway across the bottom back towards it.

I've decided to move my 4 tunze pumps (6105, 3x 6095) down to the 93 cube I'm setting up as a dedicated 'nem tank, because two RW-15s can move far more of the tank's volume with a more desirable flow pattern than the 4 combined.

That said, I do have two complaints. In "C" mode, the dials on the two pumps to determine how long they run do not exactly match. When the knob is pointed straight up, both pumps should alternate on/off roughly every 30s. They don't match perfectly. One of them is also slightly noisy. Quieter than a Vortech, but I value my silence. If it doesn't quiet down after a little more run in time, I'll get in touch with Reef Breeders.
