any suggestions on which one is the best to use? i'm planning on dripping instead of using an auto top off.

thanks

I have an ecotech marine thats a few years old and works like a champ. I understand the new model is even better. Just a bigger motor which i can upgrade soon to.

anyone use an aquamedic? it's designed like the deltec looks interesting.

I've been using a Precision Marine model (powerhead) for the past two months and have had no problems so far. In the past I've had two magnetic stirrers types but the magnetic stirrers would always go out on me and they are not easily replaced and least on the one I had. I've had no noise issues on the PM brand and was actually quieter than the magnetic stirrer one.

I used the Aquamedic....sold it to JenDub just because my CA reactor was doing enough for my tank. Aquamedic plus the Toms aqualifter pump work well. Just make sure that if you choose another pump, it has a very low flow rate like the aqualifter.

I'm not sure how you would "drip" it though. Maybe the Aqualifter on a timer every so often.

stay away from powerhead models, mag stirs like mrc are nice & quiet

I'll say just the opposite..The pump stirred units are much more user friendly and much cheape to buy..I've used two Geo's and a custom MRC..The Mag stir units can't handle a lot of powder and tend to throw the magent once in a while...that said, I haven't seen the new MRC but from what I can tell they wont throw the magnet anymore....

LOL, I was going to say the opposite. I'm not a big fan of the stir plates, eventually they just stop working. Noise isn't a real issue, it only has to come on once or twice a day for a couple minutes anyway.

Maybe I should start reading all the posts before posting...
