Which Kessil?

I'm in the process of planning a new mangrove/macro display with a 40B.

My Refugium on my current display is going really well (150 W halide) and I'd like to move my higher end macros over when I prune.

I'll be getting 2 Kessil A150's but am not sure whether to go with the 10000k (sky blue) or 6700k (Amazon sun). Not seeing anyone using the 6700 on saltwater.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Adam

I've been using the Amazon Sun on my fuge for a couple of weeks now. I only have a few macro in there and some Mangroves. Growth of the caulerpa is evident, like two stalks that have 8-9 new leaves each. The other 2 had no growth yet. there is another weedy plant that looks like wide grass, that has maybe an inch of growth. Mangroves are doing great. There's even some coralline algae growing in the fuge also. Great light for the price for growing plants.

I get really good growth out of my tuna blues.
You're growing macro with the tuna blues?

If that's the case, the 10k's should do well. I'd be less apt to see much cyano and I'd be able to place a coral or two when I frag from my DT. My DT is 90% SPS btw.

Anyone growing macro/mangroves with the 10k?

Thanks,

Adam

The 10k range is going to be best for the red macros and photosynthetic inverts, 6k range is best for the plants and green algae.

Thanks for the replies. 10k it is.

Sam, Any recommendations other than red mangroves? Where to source as well?

Cheers,

Adam

I'm definitely interested. It will be set up in a couple weeks. Feel free to pm me what you're thinking and we'll go from there.
Thanks,
Adam

plz keep us posted I was thinking of the same for a 20L macro I will be setting up. but I think the a150 are to much light for such a shallow tank.

I purchased the 10k sky blue (2 of them actually) for my upcoming mangrove/macro tank but have the 6700k Amazon Sun over my display Refugium.

I will check back in with updates when I see progress. Enjoying the 6700k immensely over my Refugium thus far.
