which light and anenome?

What anenome would be best for occelaus (sp?) in a 125g? If I get it, I will try to isolate it on a pillar. Also, how close or directly under a 250w se mh does it need to be?

Though Entacmea quadricolor (BTA or RBTA) isn't a natural host of ocellaris, in aquariums they very often take to them. I suggest a BTA because they are the easiest of the host anemones to keep and really the best choice for an aquarist unfamiliar with anemones. There are lots of tank-raised cloned E. quadricolor available and they are quite hardy.

With a 250 MH light, you will want to start with the anemone a ways from the light and slowly work it up to that intensity of lighting. I would start off witht the anemone at least 3 feet from the bulb. If you happen to get an anemone from a tank that is already using a MH of that intensity, then you could put it the same distance as it is in the tank where you get it from. MH is intense and often times anemones aren't acclimated to that bright of light. If it is too bright, the anemone will shrivel and hide under rocks--not fun.

Of course keep in mind that wherever you "place" the anemone in the tank, he is very likely to move to wherever he is comfortable.

Like garygb said it's probably best to try placing him low. That way when he's ready he'll move himself up closer to the lights.

Do you have 1 250 Mogul or 2? BTA from the store don't need alot at first. But like quite a bit after adjusted. A 125 needs 2, 250's or 2 175's. Or some equivalent amount of fluorescents.

If you get a bta put him in a low flow area in the front center toward the bottom and he will move quickly to a few locations 'till he likes it. Put a powerhead on the back unless you want him to live there. Cause you won't be able to see him, feed him or monitor health.

And most of all don't get a bleached one. Make sure it has color.

How likely is a bta to kill my other corals?

Well 2 250's are plenty. I don't have any corals just a BTA and an LTA. So can't answer that question.

Likelihood the bta will move after placement is almost guaranteed. I recently got an LTA and put him near the sand. He dug all the way to the glass and hasn't moved since. My old BTA moved 'till it found a good spot and stayed their for it's whole life. Unfortunately was only a couple years.
