I have a powder brown tang that I have had for 2 years, always very healthy. 3 weeks ago he stopped eating and started pacing at the back of the tank, I noticed he had a white blob on his eye and a few marks on his body, I thought it was ich even though the one on his eye was much bigger than a normal spot of ich. I tried to entice him to eat, adding garlic, keeping water perfect, no luck. Two days ago I caught him and put him in my QT and added first dose of cupramine, yesterday I dosed the second dose. The spot on his eye disappeared a week or more ago and he looks great other than he won't eat and still paces in the QT. Should I remove the cupramine? What could it have been on his eye? What should I treat him with?

The Cupramine could very well be suppressing his appetite. The eye thing could have been a lot of different things... a cut, pop eye, a bacterial infection, etc. If he's acting normally again and you can't see anything visibly wrong, I'd go ahead and remove the Cupramine. See if you can get him to eat. Have you tried a little nori?

it doesn't sound like it was ich and was mostly likely a trauma (scratch) that has healed; I would suggest removing the copper and watching the fish closely

Thanks for the help, I started running carbon last night and am going to do a wc today. He is still pacing though and its almost like he can't see, he almost bumps into things but his eyes look normal now, I'm at a loss, he hasn't eaten in at least 3 wks. I tried nori yesterday plus brine and his favourite flake. I don't think removing the copper will help his appetite because he wasn't eating in the DT.

Doesn't sound good at all. 3 wks is a long time for a fish to go w/o eating. Hope for the best but prepare yourself for the worst...
