Which models would be good for my tank?

I am in the process of building a 170g SPS dominated tank. The tank dimensions are 72L x 30W x 18H - I would really like to go with sand, just because I really like the natural look of it, but I wouldn't mind going barebottom. I was planning on getting two 6101's, but now I see theres a new model coming out, so I am thinking about getting the 6105's depending on the price, or should I just get 4x6055's? What is the better buy? What would make more sense for my tank?

4x6055 will produce more random flow while 2 x 6105 also do the same but stronger. With the new design, you should be able to point the pump upward toward the surface to avoid sand storm...

If you can wait, I would get the 2 6105. They won't be out until October/November.

I can wait, as I am not done building the system yet and I am pretty sure around that time is when I am going to be finished, will 2x 6100's + 2x 6105's be over kill in this tank?

It depends. If it will be only SPS it will likely be fine and you can run the pumps just 1 or 2 at a time.
