Which Protein Skimmer

I am trying to decide on a protein skimmer for my new reef tank. It will be a 54 gallon AGA corner tank w/ a 20 gallon sump / refugium. I plan to have some SPS and a moderate fish load.

My research, so far, suggests that the Deltec MC500 or the H&S 90-1000 are both good candidates. I would welcome the opinions of any of you who have had experience w/ these models and / or who would recommend a different model.

Thanks all.

I just replaced my crappy red sea berlin air-lift skimmer with a seaclone 100 skimmer. Big improvement and only $70. But if you can afford it, don't skimp out on a skimmer.

ASM G3 would be nice on that tank =) I don' tknow about deltec or h&s but I've heard they're really good =)

I'm selling my ASM G3 Skimmer with re-circ mod :D

Personally, I would go with the smallest recirculating skimmer that H&S makes and you won't be disappointed, A110-F2000. Quiet, energy efficient, extremely low heat transfer and great foaming. I saw it tested against a 3 skimmer challenge, a few months back, against the Deltec AP600 and the Reef Octopus RPS1000. But then again, it's a little more than your average skimmer, but definitely less than it's Deltec counterpart. Just my 2 cents.

H&S 90-f1000. It arrived last week. Need to figure out how to set it up, I'm relatively new to SW and have never had a proptein skimmer before. And of course I need to buy the new tank, build the stand, etc. :-) By Christmas I hope.

Thanks for your interest.
